The Big Ten is acting like the student-athlete’s health and safety is paramount but it isn’t. The Bread is. “Stop Lyin’ to Folks”

The Big Ten announces on Thursday that it would be moving to a conference-only model this fall for all sports including football. Everybody and their baby’s momma, Uncle LeRoy and cousin Man-Man is trying to make football and basketball happen this fall when it’s clearly not going to work. WE’RE IN A PANDEMIC PEOPLE!!!!

In a statement the Big Ten had this to say, “We are facing uncertain and unprecedented times, and the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, game officials, and others associated with our sports programs and campuses remain our number one priority.”

They go on to say, “By limiting competition to other Big Ten institutions, the Conference will have the greatest flexibility to adjust its own operations throughout the season and make quick decisions in real-time based on the most current evolving medical advice and the fluid nature of the pandemic.”

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! How is playing a conference-only schedule going to keep teams and players from spreading the virus around? I’m asking for a friend that doesn’t comprehend well. Sure, I completely get that the Big Ten can be more flexible fooling around only with teams in the conference than they would with teams outside of the conference but the virus is still being spread nonetheless.

How is Michigan not playing Oregon or Wisconsin not playing Notre Dame etc. making the players any safer? If there are players that are asymptomatic on the field the virus is being spread. We’re already seeing schools like Texas, LSU, Oklahoma with crazy positive tests and they were just voluntarily working out this summer. They haven’t even start real camps blocking and tackling each other.

Not to mention that on Thursday we saw the highest spike in positive case across the country with 60,000 new cases. It’s going nuts out here because folks won’t socially distance or wear masks. So if people are spreading the virus just standing next to one another in bars and restaurants. What do you think is going to happen when people are running into each other and breathing all on top of each other? It foolish thinking to believe it’s not going to get worse.

We all need to be socially distancing at least 6 feet apart with a mask on and that’s not happening right now but playing football makes sense?

You can’t even technically get in a huddle to call plays without spreading the virus. It’s all a stupid attempt to do the freaking impossible. Like I’ve been saying since the beginning of this pandemic. We’re not having football and basketball this year. A) It’s too much of a public health risk and B) It’s stupid to even try.

Yes and I get that everybody’s trying not to lose their shirts because advertising dollars and TV revenues are at stake but if that’s the case just say that up front. Stop telling folks that the health and safety of your student-athletes is paramount because it’s not.

These schools don’t give a rip about these kids because if they did football season would have been cancelled two months ago. Stop me when I start lyin’!
