On Monday just 24 hours before the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles were to officially visit the White House Donald Trump cancelled their visit. Instead of callin’ a boy and tellin’ them that they were uninvited to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue he put out a statement that read as follows:
“The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow. They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.”
Here’s the funny thing about this situation bruh, most of the team wasn’t goin’ to the White House anyway!! Accordin’ to the Eagles most, if not all, of the black players had already decided not to go. Therefore, if most of them weren’t goin’ that’s like 70 percent of the team not goin’.
So let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Trump cancelled the official visit to save face. Ole boy wanted to look like he was in control of this foolishness just like he did when he officially cancelled the Golden State Warriors visit after they’d already decided not to go in the first place.
Who’s this cat foolin’? He’s a control freak and wants to make it about himself instead of makin’ it about what America actually stands for and that’s FREEDOM. None of the players on the Eagles even protested last season so what is he even talkin’ about?
He insists on makin’ this about the national anthem when it’s NEVER been about that. This entire issue has always been about police brutality, racial and social injustice nothin’ more nothin’ less. Stop tryin’ to appeal to your base by promotin’ a false narrative because it’s ignorant.
If the team never protested then why are we even havin’ this discussion? Because 45 found out that the brothers weren’t comin’ and that’s like the majority of the team so he didn’t want to look silly by havin’ 30 percent of 100 standin’ on his back porch like his inauguration.
This is America! A free society where people have the right to freedom of speech, or of the press, to peaceably assemble and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances accordin’ to the First Amendment.
The President doesn’t have the right to make folks do what he wants them to do to please the base that has already voted for him. That makes no sense. If you’re the president then stand on the principles of the Constitution and what it actually says. Stand up for what the flag actually represents. Don’t try to make this a dictatorship by constantly tryin’ to force people to do what you would rather they do.
Understand this playboy, everybody in America hasn’t had the same experience from America. Just because we live in the same country, breath the same air and walk the same streets doesn’t mean that we all live in the same world.
When black folks can be shot and killed by the very people that have been sworn in to “protect and serve” us for essentially nothin’. Our experience is different. When we can be arrested for simply sittin’ in the same Starbucks that most other American sit in without orderin’ something. Our experience is different. When we can have the police called on us for sleepin’ in the very Ivy League dormitory we’ve lived in all school year durin’ finals week. Our experience is different. When we can double park at a 24 hour Walgreens at 1:30 in the mornin’ when no other cars are in the parkin’ lot and get the breaks beatin off of us by a gang of cops. Our experience is different.
So if the narrative is police brutality, racial and social injustice, Then accordin’ to the First Amendment we have a right to peaceably protest and the president, who is supposed to be the president for all Americans should support that.
That is what Makin’ America Great looks like not tryin’ to bully people into thinkin’ the way he thinks. However, when you don’t understand what right and righteousness looks like it’s easier to just save face and keep it movin’. Stop me when I start lyin’!
