Saying the Pacers have great chemistry right now means ABSOLUTELY nothing! “Sittin’ in the Cut”

With the NBA season right around the corner duns are as excited as they’ve ever been this year. LeBron’s a Laker, Kawhi’s a Raptor…well…for at least the time being. The East doesn’t have to suffer the constant threat of LeBron mowing over everybody and now boyz can at least get a fair shot at the Eastern Conference Championship going forward.

In every barber shop that’s talkin’ $100 worth of noise and on every talk show in the Circle City cats are screaming about the Pacers’ chance to make some noise this year and get to the Eastern Conference Finals. Sure, they played the Cavs better than anyone in the East did during the playoffs last year by taking them to 7 games. They forced them out of their comfort zone and made them work.

However, they’re still in the East and the only team that literally took a step backwards was Cleveland. Everybody else is still playing basketball bruh!!! Boston’s gotten even better and could be DOMINANT with all of their pieces on the floor. Philly is still in the ride blasting their music sitting in front of Big Mommas house in the projects daring a boy to tell them to turn it down. Toronto is still out here walking hard down the streets and they’ve added Kawhi.

So why is everybody trying to elevate the Pacers to the top of the East’s list and we haven’t played a lick of basketball? All everyone is talking about is how much chemistry this team has coming into the season. How Victor Oladipo spent crazy bread to have the entire team down in Miami to workout this past summer etc.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Like my big homie Conrad Brunner always says, “Chemistry is a byproduct of whatever the team is doing. If they’re winning they’ve got great team chemistry. If they’re losing the chemistry sucks.”

They haven’t played a darn game yet so there is no basis for team chemistry. We have to wait to see how players react to a bonehead mistake that costs them a game. We’ve got to wait to see how they handle adversity etc. Don’t tell me about team chemistry before the season even starts. That makes no sense. Don’t tell me about how guys get along right now. They’ve got no reason to not get along right now.

How will the new additions workout once we tip this thing off? That’s the question! We already know that it’s Oladipo’s team and that he’s running the show but how will guys like Tyreke Evans, Doug McDermott, Aaron Holiday and others fit into the system. Will they play the roles that Nate McMillan needs for them to play?

How will they jell together? What will their identity be once Nate figures out what they’ve got to work with in game situations? All of those things play a factor in who and what they will be but to tell me at the beginning of October that they’ve got great chemistry means absolutely nothing. Talk to me in December about what they are and what they can become but until then let’s just sit in the cut and watch this thing develop. Stop me when I start lyin’!
