Everybody and their baby’s momma, Uncle LeRoy and cousin Man-Man is trippin’ over the fact that LeBron’s not in the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-’05 season and rightfully so. It’s been a minute since that dun has gone fishing in April.
Boyz are going NUTS over the fact that James Harden is shooting the lights out of every NBA arena he’s set foot into this season. They’re even in awe of what Paul George is doing this year as he’s having an MVP-type season. The Greek Freak is doin’ work too.
However, why isn’t anybody excited about what Young Russ is doing in these NBA streets? Stop the presses like the old timers used to say. Russell Westbrook is averaging yet another triple double for the season!!!! Nobody had done it before him three seasons ago since Oscar Robertson did it in 1962. Now this dun is on the verge of posting his third consecutive triple double for the season and nobody’s excited about it.
Westbrook is averaging 23 points, 10.4 assists and 11 rebounds this season and you would have thought he’s not even playing. Are you kidding me? He’s put up 29 triple doubles this season and folks wanna act like he’s barely showing up to play.
At one point in life, as in, up to three years ago, the triple double was the ultimate basketball stat. Why? Because folks weren’t averaging them for the season. It was like seeing the Loch Nest Monster or Big Foot because only the Big O had ever averaged one and he did it so long ago that it was like a myth.
Now that Young Russ is selling them like loose cigarettes it’s all of a sudden not a big deal. That’s crazy to me. I’m not saying that he should be the league MVP because he’s averaging a triple double but somebody needs to be talking about how amazing it is for him to be averaging a triple double in the NBA. Are you kidding me?
There aren’t too many cats averaging a triple double in Biddy Basketball leagues in the hood or in high school or college for that matter. This dude is averaging a triple double in the NBA and y’all ain’t impressed. I’m shaking my darn head and you can stop me when I start lyin’!
