WEST LAFAYETTE, IN. — It only took three weeks and three terrible loses for the Purdue Boilermakers to figure out that they were a really good football team that didn’t need to lose to teams that they are better than. No.23 Boston College walked into Ross-Ade Stadium on Homecoming Weekend with a little too much confidence and got hit in the mouth getting off of the bus. By the time boyz bit into their hot dogs good the Boilermakers had jumped all over the Eagles.  When the smoke cleared Purdue was running out of the building with BC’s sneakers and jewelry 30-13 to get it’s first win of the season.

After forcing Boston College off of the field on their first possession on a three and out. Purdue took over and marched the rock down the field like an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) drum major to take an early 7-0 lead on a D.J. Knox 1 yard run.

Boston College answered on the very next possession high steppin’ right back down the field to tie it up at 7 on a 15 yard TD pass from Anthony Brown to Tommy Sweeney. The first quarter ended knotted at 7. The Boilermakers played a solid quarter of football without any brain farts/penalites to speak of.

On the very first play of the second quarter Purdue’s true freshman, Rondale Moore, explodes for a 70 yard touchdown off of a pass from David Blough. The defender made the awful mistake of hitting him and not wrapping him up and ole boy went the distance. That’s tackling 101 playa. Purdue goes up 13-7 at that point.

Purdue’s special teams were giving up way too many yards allowing the Eagles to have a short field but they couldn’t take advantage of it. The Boilermaker defense held BC to literally 37 yards of total offense in the first half with only 5 of that on the ground.

Purdue kept bangin’ as Blough found Moore for a 9 yard TD pass to go up 20-7. Moore scored his second touchdown of the day as the the Boilermakers were looking as good as Big Momma’s apple pies cooling off on the window ledge just before the end of the half. They got through the first half with very few mistakes and very good execution. They did however, give up 4 sacks in the first half. Not good at all. I spoke to Coach Brohm after the ball game about Blough holding on to the ball too long on a couple of those. Here’s what he had to say:

With under a minute remaining in the second quarter Purdue’s Anthony Watts tips BC’s Anthony Brown’s pass as Kai Higgins comes up with the interception at the Boston College 6 yard line. Brohm’s Crew gets a field goal out of it to extend their lead to 23-7 after two quarters.

After all of the bone headed unsportsmanlike conduct penalties during the first three weeks the Boilermakers committed only 2 penalties for 25 yards the ENTIRE game!!! Coach Brohm must have put his foot down this week at practice!! Well…probably both feet. This team could literally be 4-0 today if only they played in the first 3 games as disciplined as they played on Saturday. Coach Brohm what the difference was this this week. Here’s his response:

David Blough had on the full clown suit complete with the water spitting flower as he straight CLOWNED the BC defense finishing 21-28 for 296 yards and 3 TD’s. Great performance on his part on Saturday.
Purdue defense played lights out and swiped 4 interceptions. This is the team boyz were looking to see Weeks 1 through 3! I know Boilermaker fans are happy to see them show up! Stop me when I start lyin’!
