WEST LAFAYETTE — When it’s IU vs. Purdue you can throw the records out of the window and just keep the reputations because that’s all boyz want to talk about. These two don’t like each other very much and it’s all about bragging rights. Well…until they play the next one. Boyz ran into each other up in West Lafayette to settle the bar fight and it was all Purdue from start to finish as the Boilermakers beat the brakes, doors, transmission and and tires off of the Hoosiers 70-55.

Purdue jumped out of the car and went on a 6-0 run to start the game. The Hoosiers looked shell shocked right out of the gate. Purdue started off 5-6 from the field as IU was 1-5 looking for answers. By the time I bit into my hot dog it was 11-2 Purdue. I was like, slow down playa it’s still early.

Romeo Langford picked up two quick fouls early and had to sit down. However, the Hoosiers stayed focused and kept grinding. They tied it up 15-15 at the 9:03 mark and then took their first lead of the game 18-17 at the 8:51 mark.

Langford stepped back on the court but wasn’t playing with much confidence. He got ripped and it went the other way. The Boilers turned their defense into offense to go on a 6-0 run and the next thing you know they were back up 27-24.

Juwan Morgan held the Hoosiers down scoring 9 of his 13 points in the first half. But the Boilermakers kept on attacking and playing great defense. Matt Haarms was doing work on both ends of the floor getting to the rack and blocking shots.

Who told Noel Eastern to show up and show out like Big Momma used to say? He scored all of his  10 points in the first half. The Matt Painter’s squad started the game on a 6-0 run and ended the half on the same 6-0 run to go up 33-26.

In my Shakespearian voice, “Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo?” Ole boy had 2 fouls, 3 turnovers and 0 points in the first half and the Hoosiers don’t have another high volume scorer. So boyz were looking at him to get loose in the second half, if they would have any shot at winning this game. Well playa, that didn’t happen because he finished with 4 points.

The Boilermakers came out the break with the same momentum as they went in on an 8-2 run to go up 41-28. Ryan Cline got going as he knocked down two straight three-pointers to put Purdue up 44-32. Boyz needed to talk about it on a media timeout because it was about to get out of hand in Mackey Arena.

Well my basketball fanatics…they came out of the timeout and it was all Purdue!! Carsen Edwards was putting on a show on both ends of the floor as the Boilers went up 49-34 with 14:17 left to play. The Hoosiers couldn’t hit an elephant in the butt with a base fiddle from three-point land shooting 20 percent at that point in the game and they were shooting 14 percent from the foul line. In my Bernie Mac Players Club voice, “T-R-O-U-B-L-E!!!”

The roof simply blew off of the joint as Purdue was getting whatever they wanted whenever they wanted it. I swear I saw Carsen Edwards order a Serious Strawberry Frappuccino Grande and a dun brought it to him while it was dribbling the ball to the rack. That’s how bad it was for the Hoosiers bruh.

By the time we got to the 10:20 mark it was off to the races up in that piece. Purdue was beating the rearview mirrors off of these cats 56-39 and counting.

I’ve been saying it since ole boy was in high school. I’m not impressed with Romeo Langford. I have no idea what everybody is watching but he plays with absolutely no dog in him. He’s extremely talented  and can score but where is the dog???? He is the only lottery pick on the floor and he’s hiding asking for the ball instead of demanding it.

In the biggest rivalry game of the season he finished with 4 darn points!!! Stop it!!! And all the while, Purdue was beating the crap out of his team led by Carsen Edwards who plays with the heart of a lion. He led the Boilermakers with 20 points followed by Matt Haarm’s 12 and Noel Eastern’s 10.

The Hoosiers were led by Juwan Morgan and Justin Smith with 13 each.
