FAR EAST SIDE — Well playas…it’s that Friday I’ve been waiting for since Monday. Normally folks wake up on Monday asking the question, “Is it Friday yet?” because they just don’t want to work all week. I’ve been asking “Is it Friday yet?” because I do want to work! I’ve been looking forward to covering the most anticipated high school hoop game in the state. It’s literally a repeat of Monday’s Marion County Tournament Championship between Lawrence Central and No.1 Warren Central!!

WC won the first battle 60-56 in a thriller and I’m quite sure that Round II will be just as good. The Warriors roll into this one dragging 46 straight wins behind them including their come from behind win over Lawrence Central just four days ago. It was a straight CLASSIC!!!

The Bears didn’t show any signs of intimidation getting out of the ride as they went right at Warren. They led the entire game up until the 2:53 mark of the fourth quarter. That’s when that “Can’t Fold Won’t Fold” mantra kicked in on a boy and literally took over.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! You know what they say, “It’s hard to beat a boy twice” even if you’re at the crib. However, if anybody can pull it off it would be Warren Central because they haven’t experienced defeat in 46 games. They’ve literally forgotten what it feels like to lose. That sounds crazy doesn’t it?

But please don’t look side ways at LC because they’ve got horses starting with junior point guard Nijel Pack that plays with so much confidence it’s ridiculous. He gets to the rack like a G whenever he wants to, can shoot the three and the mid-range is wet. Jacob Laravia and Dre Davis hold the Bears down like some soldiers the entire game and both can jump out of the gym.

What impressed me most about them was the fact that they were never intimidated by the mystique of the defending Class 4A state champs and their 45-0 record at the time. I’m quite sure they believe they can beat them so they’ve added some more subwoofers to the back seat and lowered the ’79 Impala another 2-inches of that they’ll be pushing over to the FAR EAST SIDE tonight to wrestle with these boyz.

But let me put it where the goats can get it. WC is WC for a reason. They didn’t just wake up this morning 46-0 just because. They’ve got thoroughbreds all over the floor. Duns like Manny Brown that will get by you in the blink of an eye and ole boy plays ridiculous defense. Isaiah Moore can shoot that thang from anywhere on the floor and will make you pay tolls on his way down the floor with it. Jakobie Robinson and Jesse Bingham will have you so confused that you don’t know which one of them to guard. Pick your poison with them. The Incomparable David Bell is the O.G. leader that’s still trying to get his football cleats off but still dragging boyz and did I mention Malik Stanley keeping boyz on skates? Well…I just did.

They’ve got so many weapons it’s insane!!! It should be a good one tonight. So if you aren’t at WC tonight on the FAR EAST SIDE stop telling me how much you love Indiana high school basketball. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Put it where the goats can get it: verb phrase – to make it as elementary as possible. To put it at ground level so everyone can understand it

3) Big Body Chevy: noun — the 1985-’90 model of the Chevy Impala
