We’re just a month into the Indiana high school hoop season and we’ve got fireworks going off already!!! This Friday the defending Class 4A State Champs, No.1 Warren Central, who’s riding a 35 game winning streak travels to No.3 Ben Davis. The Giants walk into the joint undefeated at 6-0!!! So something’s gotta give right? All playas on deck!!!
Warren Central walked through the entire season last year without losing a single game and have picked up right where they left off. Ballin’!!! With returning starters and seniors Jakobie Robinson and Jesse Bingham they’re a huge problem for boyz to deal with. They look to be darn near unbeatable right now and they don’t even have their captain, David Bell, yet. The football Army All-American has yet to play this season because of an ankle injury he suffered during the playoffs.
It’s crazy to think that they could be better than they were last year but they literally can. Coach Criss Beyers has these boyz rolling as they dismantled Cathedral last Friday 69-47 like they weren’t even on the floor.
Well let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! They’ve got to show up on the West Side on Friday night to bump heads with the new look Ben Davis Giants. I say new look because they’ve got a new head coach that let’s his horses run. First year Giants coach, Don Carlisle, understands that when you’ve got horses you’ve got to let them run. Led by senior shooting guard Jalen Windham and “big man” center Dawand Jones the Giants have been a problem for everybody starting this 2018-19 hoop season.
Most folks have been accustomed to Ben Davis stalling the ball and standing around watching the clock. Not this year playa!!! They’re gettin’ up and down the floor like some thoroughbreds on a mission.
Yep, it should be a good one Friday night. WEST SIDE VS. EAST SIDE!! Naw…let me rephrase that, FAR WEST SIDE VS. FAR EAST SIDE!!! Who’s going to come out of this one unblemished? Well…you had better be in the building to see it. I know that. Stop me when I start lyin’!
