GREENWOOD — On another wild and crazy Friday night of M.I.C. Football wherever you pulled up you would have gotten your monies worth. Down at Ray Skillman Stadium in Greenwood the Game of the Year was played and folks came out of there needing to get their blood pressure checked because I’m quite sure somebody had a heart attack from all of the excitement. It was a thriller from start to finish.

No.1 in Class 6A Center Grove hosted No.1 in Class 5A Cathedral for all of the bragging rights since they won’t compete against each other for a state title. So this was the de facto state title for all of the bragging right anyway.

After being down 13-10 with 1:14 left to play. The Trojans took over on downs after Cathedral head coach Bill Peebles decided to go for it on 4-1. The Trojans were out of timeouts and a first down would have secured the victory.

However, Center Drove pulled up on the a boy and kept them from gaining the first down. With 14 second left Tayven Jackson found Trent Veith on a 14-yard touchdown pass to win it. NUTS!!!!

The War Horse finished the night with 21 carries for 127 yards. Connor Delp dropped off four catches for 88 yards and Veith had six catches for 76 yards. Tayven Jackson ran the offense like a well oiled machine finishing 12-for-21 passing for 184 yards. Now it’s time to chase that Class 6A state title.
