Bubba Wallace, the only black NASCAR driver, pushed for the ban of the Confederate flag from all of its races and NASCAR not only listened but they complied. Major shout to NASCAR for finally doing the right thing.
The racing league will allow on-track personnel to kneel during the national anthem, Bubba Wallace will be driving a car with Black Lives Matter plastered on the side of it in addition to the sport banning the Confederate flag from races.
Not everyone is happy about the country and the racing league moving forward and leaving the overt racism in the rearview mirror. NASCAR driver, Ray Ciccarelli, announced on his Facebook page Wednesday that he’s leaving the sport at the end of the season because of the aforementioned changes.
Here’s his full Facebook post, “Well its been a fun ride and dream come true but if this is the direction Nascar is headed we will not participate after 2020 season is over , i don’t believe in kneeling during Anthem nor taken ppl right to fly what ever flag they love. I could care less about the Confederate Flag but there are ppl that do and it doesn’t make them a racist all you are doing is f—ing one group to cater to another and i ain’t spend the money we are to participate in any political BS!! So everything is for SALE!!”
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! You have to be real ignorant and racist to quit your job because it no longer wants to acknowledge hate towards another group of people.
NEWS FLASH: The Confederacy loss the war. They were an unrecognized republic that warred against the UNITED STATES during the American Civil War.
Where else in the world does the loser of the war get to continue to fly its flag in the country that defeated it? Only is America. But no longer at NASCAR races.
We’re finally at a moment in history that people are beginning to understand that wrong is wrong regardless of its heritage. Just because your great-great grandparents were racist slave owners and died trying to keep their slaves doesn’t mean that you get to continue to promote it. They were also traders of the Union. You do realize that right?
This country belongs to ALL of us and we should ALL be made to feel welcomed wherever we go and that includes to a NASCAR event.
