Mike Kirschner takes over at Warren Central and you can ONLY respect that! “BACK HOME”

Warren Central has finally found its new head football coach in a face familiar to the program, the M.I.C. and to winning state championships! Mike Kirschner, a 1979 Warren Central grad is now running the show for the Warrior football program. It’s a dream come true because the FAR EAST SIDE is home!

I know a lot of folks on the west side of town are fired up about Kirschner landing back in the M.I.C. with their biggest rival. However, if you really think about it he doesn’t owe Ben Davis a darn thing. He worked his butt off while he was there and didn’t leave anything on the table. He grew up on the east side, went to Warren Central and he’s always wanted to coach at his Alma Mater.

Speaking on a video shared by Warren Central on Twitter he had this to say, “I have wanted this job since I got into coaching the Warren Tomahawks back in the 1980s, which is how I started my career in coaching. Worked my way up, became an assistant coach here, assistant football, assistant basketball, assistant softball from ’90 to ’96, and I left with the idea at some time in my career I would get to come back and be the head coach of the school that is near and dear to my heart.”

It was an excellent hire because he knows the program and he understands their culture of winning. He was 30-8 in three short seasons at Mt. Vernon and 139-70 overall in 18 seasons as a head coach. He won the 2014 and 2017 Class 6A state titles at Ben Davis!

The temperature in the M.I.C. just went up 15 degrees now that Mike Kirschner is back. In my Bart Scott voice, “Can’t Wait!”
