When it was announced that Michigan State’s Mel Tucker was going to be signing a 10 year $95 million contract. Instead of saying that he would become the second highest paid coach in college football behind ONLY Nick Saban of Alabama. The media said that it would make him the high paid black coach in sports. What?!!
Sure, he’s the highest paid black coach in sports but he’s now making more bread than anyone BLACK or WHITE in THEE sport except for the most accomplished football coach in college football history. Why not just say that? Why did they try to limit him by only comparing him to black coaches?
Only in America do they try to fool people into believing that black folks can’t or shouldn’t be able to surpass their white counterparts financially. Is it a crime to say that this black man makes more money than everyone but the most accomplished coach in the sport? Does that hurt some people’s feelings or something?
I didn’t just see that headline once but it was the headline all over the place for the past 48 hours. Mel Tucker earned that bag and Michigan State had enough sense to give it to him. Don’t down play this accomplishment. He got the bag that everyone else wanted but didn’t earn except Nick. Stop me when I star lyin’!
