Phil Robertson, from Duck Dynasty, once said, “I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty, and like Him, I love all of humanity.” Cesar Chavez, the civil rights activist, gave it to us like this, “Preservation of one’s own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures.” Then Will Smith broke it down so that it would forever be broken when he spit, “Throughout life people will make you mad, disrespect you and treat you bad. Let God deal with the things they do, cause hate in your heart will consume you too.”
Well playas…folks are really on one after this presidential election. Cats think that they can just say whatever they want about black folks and other minorities like we’re back in the 1950’s. It’s crazy out here!! Boyz went from bein’ cordial to bein’ utterly disrespectful. From duns literally pushin’ a college student at Baylor off of the sidewalk and callin’ her the N-word to so-call “Make America Great Again” to pullin’ Muslim’s hijab’s off. To markin’ folks property with hate filled messages. That’s called ignorance at it’s finest.
Then the most accomplished basketball coach of all-time took a shot at LeBron and his friends/business partners in an interview with ESPN’s Jackie McMullan published earlier this week. Ole boy was talkin’ about LeBron leavin’ Miami and re-signin’ with Cleveland and made these statements out of his OWN mouth bruh:
“It had to hurt when they lost LeBron. That was definitely a slap in the face. But there were a lot of little things that came out of that. When LeBron was playing with the Heat, they went to Cleveland, and he wanted to spend the night. They don’t do overnights. Teams just don’t. So now [coach Erik] Spoelstra has to text Riley and say, ‘What do I do in this situation?’ And Pat, who has iron-fist rules, answers, ‘You are on the plane. You are with this team.’ You can’t hold up the whole team because you and your mom and your posse want to spend an extra night in Cleveland. I always thought Pat had this really nice vibe with his guys. But something happened there where it broke down. I do know LeBron likes special treatment. He needs things his way.”
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! To use the word posse for a group of grown black men with jobs was a slap in the face. And it was coded!! Anybody with half of a brain could see that it was coded! Especially, in the foolish climate that we’re livin’ in today.
I’m listenin’ to the radio and watchin’ television this week and boyz are literally tryin’ to explain this dun out. There’s no excuse for that type of behavior by a grown man that surely understands what he was sayin’! He referred to a group of black men as a street gang or a bunch of thugs. I don’t know where you’re from if you can’t see the code in that foolishness?
And don’t give me the excuse that Phil’s a 70 year old man and doesn’t know any better. If you’re 70 you’ve been livin’ in this world long enough to understand that you can’t say whatever you’re thinkin’! If you’re 70 you should understand that the world has changed and you watched it freakin’ change. If you’re 70 and you’ve been playin’, coachin’ or been an executive in the NBA since 1967 then you’ve been around black men for darn near 50 years even if you grew up in rural America without ANY brothers!!!
So bein’ in the locker room and on flights travelin’ all over this country you understand how boyz think and perceive the foolishness of racism. So to call LeBron’s camp a posse was deliberate.
I’d even give Phil pass if they were all 20 years old, unemployed livin’ off of LeBron and tearin’ up hotel rooms in every city they went to. But LeBron put these cats on and now they are his business partners runnin’ several multi-million dollar companies! LeBron side ace, Maverick Carter, has a net worth of more than $15 million. That’s not a posse bruh that an advisor/entrepreneur/hustler/get it down homeboy!
You wouldn’t call a group of white 30 plus year old men worth millions of dollars a posse. So why would you call a group of black men worth millions a posse? Because it’s acceptable in America to demean people that don’t look like you.
Here’s the problem bruh. Boyz have been payin’ these brothers to play a game for years. They’ve pretty much ONLY played the game, spent all of their money and always NEEDED the team or the front office to survive. Now you’ve got cats like LeBron that has taken complete advantage of the guaranteed contracts, free agency and the knowledge of understandin’ that he doesn’t NEED the front office to tell him what to do. He’s got all of the power. Why? Because he’s Lebron. The superstar.
Duns like Phil Jackson can’t come to grips with the fact that a young black man is callin’ all of the shots and there’s nothin’ that cats like he and Pat Riley can do about it. So he lashes out like a 5 year old and demeans LeBron on the sly thinkin’ that nobody was goin’ to pick up on it.
Gone are the days of bein’ able to say what you want to say about people you don’t like or understand. This ain’t 1950 bruh as much as you want it to be. And I hope that fool at Baylor that pushed the young lady off of the sidewalk to “Make America Great America Again” get expelled from school. We’ve got to send a message to these idiots that America won’t tolerate that type of foolishness.
I’ve lost all respect for Phil as well. Why? Because he actually showed us who he was. I’d rather fully understand who a person is than to be fooled by their representative. Stop me when I start lyin’!
