Lawrence Central outlasts Lawrence North in the Battle of Lawrence!!! “GREAT GAME! GREAT TEAMS!!”

Lawrence Central's Jasen Graves lit the place up on Friday night in a win over rival Lawrence North finishing with 230 yards passing and 92 yards rushing and 4 TDs. NUTS!!! Photo: TheJayGravesReport

INDIANAPOLIS — Lawrence Township was on full display on Friday night down at Lucas Oil Stadium. The Battle of Lawrence was all of that and a bag of Funyuns with some penny cookies on the side and please don’t forget the red pop. Fans were treated to some of the township’s youth football and the 7th and 8th grade teams before the heavy weights took the field.

By the time Lawrence Central and Lawrence North hit the field the place was NUTS!!! And boy was it a good one. When the smoke cleared Lawrence Central was walking out of the joint with a 41-31 victory and the Dwayne Bell Trophy for the 15th consecutive year. That’s NUTS!!!

The Bears were led by senior quarterback Jasen Graves who finished 21 of 36 for 230 passing yards and 4 touchdowns with an additional 92 yards rushing! Ole boy had on the full clown suit complete with the water spitting flower. Straight clownin’!!!! Do you hear me?

Don’t trip because the Lawrence North junior quarterback, Donaven McCulley, shopped at the same outlet and had on the extra large shoes as he went to 14 of 34 for 274 yards passing and 2 touchdowns. Unbelievable!!!

Lawrence North went three and out on their first two possessions as the Bears from Lawrence Central waisted no time taking their first two possessions right down the field for touchdowns. Before I could bite into my hot dog it was 14-0 and looking like it was going to be a blow out. Graves hits Jaden Fuel for a quick 10 yard TD and then hits Elijah Gaskin for a 15 yard strike.

Trip? No trip!! Lawrence North’s Donavan McCulley hit Omar Cooper on an 80 yard dart to make it 14-7 Bears just before the first quarter ended.

LC doesn’t panic from the fireworks of LN and marched right back down the field as Graves throws a 12 yard TD pass to Elijah Gaskin to go up 20-7.

At the break LC is up 27-10 with Jasen Graves putting on a clinic at Lucas Oil Stadium. Lawrence didn’t panic at all as they went into the locker room to talk about it.

If you thought there were fireworks in the first half of this great rivalry put your seat belts on for the second half. It was NUTS!!!!

John Lewis lines up at quarterback for the Bears and hits Elijah Gaskin for a 15 yard touchdown to put the Bears up 34-17. However, that McCulley/Cooper Connection is as real as fish grease at a southern cookout playa. They hook up for another TD to make it 34-24 and before you could finish screaming for that touchdown they blew the roof off of the joint with a 75 yard bomb to pull within 3 points making it 34-31. CRAZY!!!!

However, the smooth criminal, Jasen Graves, had another trick of up his sleeve as he hit Treveon Gilmore for a 4 yard touchdown to close the joint out at 41-31. Talk about a great ball game with two great teams. Lawrence Township really represented at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday night from the youth league to the high schools. Great job you guys!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!
