Kobe’s death reminds us of how fragile life really is. Take advantage of your DASH.

Even if you were living under a rock on Sunday the news of NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s death reached you either through television or on social media. It was impossible to avoid.

Bryant and his 13-year old daughter, Gianna, were among 9 people killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. They were headed to a basketball game at Kobe’s Mamba Sports Academy when the incident occurred.

The Black Mamba was larger than life and became one of the most respected players to ever lace them up. Not only was he an 18-time NBA All-Star, 2-time Finals MVP and 5-time NBA Champion but he was most importantly a loving husband and father.

Everyone is still in shock of hearing the news of his death and understandably so. However, news like this reminds us all of our own mortality. We’re all human and we all must pass away at some point. God is the only one that knows the time and hour of our demise.

Therefore, we’ve got to live everyday to like it’s our last. It’s a blessing to get one more day older and every second that passes is a truly a blessing. There is a reason why they call it the “present” because it’s a gift that isn’t promised to any of us.

Take advantage of the time that you’ve been given because it’s precious. The only thing we can control is the dash between our born date and end date. So I’ll ask, what will you do with the dash you’ve been given?

Will you motivate, teach, mentor or simply waste the time you’ve been given? Use this moment to evaluate how you will use your dash to leave a positive impact on people around you. We all want to live forever but that’s impossible to do.

However, you can live forever if you make the most of the dash you’ve been given. Help change some lives for the better and most importantly help other folks get to heaven by introducing them to Jesus. That’s the only reason we’re here. Rest in Peace Kobe Bryant. Much respect. Stop me when I start lyin’!
