Everybody and their baby’s momma, Uncle LeRoy and cousin Man-Man has been sitting in Big Momma’s picture window waiting to see what Kawhi Leonard was going to do. Then in the middle of the night, at 1:50am exactly, he broke into the house and had his way. Adrian Wojnarowski dropped the news that Kawhi would be going to LA but not to the Lakers. Ole boy would be headed to the Clippers!!!! Not only did he pull a power move but he told them that he wanted another superstar to rock with him and that star was Paul George.
So in order to make that happen PG requested a trade after speaking with him and OKC obliged but not before getting a gang of first round draft picks for his services!! They got “three unprotected first round picks (2022, 2024 and 2026), two first rounders rerouted via Miami (2021 unprotected and 2023 lottery protected), the rights to swap picks with the Clippers in 2023 and 2025 (unprotected), plus Danilo Gallinari and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander” according to ESPN. That’s NUTS!!!
The Thunder got over bruh!!! PG wasn’t worth all of that. The Thunder are able to retool over the next 5 or 6 years with first round talent. Yeah I know that PG put up crazy numbers last season but they still got bounced in the first round just like they did the season before. I covered Paul George in Indiana the entire time he was there coming out of Fresno State and come playoff time he’s going to disappear on you playa.
So on paper it sounds good but OKC got over like a fat rat in a bakery’s refrigerator after robbing Wilie Wonka at gun point. Once ole boy told them that he wanted out to play with Kawhi they started packing his bags. No way were they going to allow this situation to ruin their team’s chemistry etc. There wasn’t any trying to talk him into staying. Once the public would have gotten wind of this foolishness it would have been an Anthony Davis situation all over again. They couldn’t afford that. If he wanted out let that dun go. They didn’t win with him so let him walk.
So now Kawhi and PG team up in the same building with LeBron and Anthony Davis on the side and it’s going to be like Chris Brown up in that piece “On and Poppin!”
