SOUTHPORT — When you’ve a big time Division I signee on your roster and a bunch of cats that know how to play the game it can get dangerous. Well…the Red Devils from Jeffersonville found out real quick how dangerous it can become. By the time they turned the lights on good Carmel was sprinting through these cats and when the smoke cleared the Greyhounds were back in the ride headed north with a 61-41 victory.

The No.2 Carmel Greyhounds stepped into the Forum Tip Off Classic barking like some big dogs on Saturday afternoon. They met Jeffersonville in the second of six games and went to work. At the end of the first quarter it was all knotted up at 9 apiece. That’s as close as it got. Jeffersonville stalled the ball for 45 seconds to end the opening quarter and didn’t even get off a shot.

I guess that fueled the Greyhounds as they went on a serious run. John Michael Mulloy, the Butler signee, went off for 10 of Carmel’s first 12 points and went on to score 14 of his 19 in the first half. Karsten Windlan dropped off 10 of his 20 points in the first half to lead the Hounds.  Carmel was up 33-18 at the break.

Mulloy came out of the break and continued to do work but seemed to cool off in the second half. In the first half they had no answer for him. NONE!!! Carmel went on a 15-5 run to start the quarter as they went up 48-23 before a boy could bite into his hot dog good.

As Carmel played within their system Jeffersonville never seemed to get into a rhythm offensively. The Greyhounds kept them on their heels all day as Mulloy and Windlan balled out.

While everybody was paying attention to Mulloy Windlan continued to do damage. Carmel’s going to be a problem out here in these basketball streets. Stop me when I start lyin’!
