Jalen Hurts to Oklahoma! Can he be the third straight transfer QB from Texas to win a Heisman for the Sooners?

Jalen Hurts is a Sooner now! Can he repeat the success of the previous two transfers? Photo: Sports Illustrated.

On Wednesday former Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts announced via an article written on the Player’s Tribune that he was headed to Norman to play his senior season at the University of Oklahoma. In the piece he wrote, “I’ve decided to take my talents to the University of Oklahoma, where I will continue my development as both a quarterback and as a student. I’m very fortunate to have this opportunity, and I’m excited for the journey ahead.”

BOOM!!!! Or should I say Boomer Sooner? I know that the folks down in Norman are excited. They just lost two Heisman Trophy quarterbacks in back to back seasons and now they’ve got a kid that could literally compete for another one. WOW! I know that the ponies, Boomer and Sooner, are fired up and ready to ride at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium next fall.

Ole boy entered the transfer portal last week and took his first “requiting” trip to Maryland on Friday, Oklahoma on Saturday and then down to Miami on Sunday. As you can imagine everybody and their baby’s momma, Uncle LeRoy and Cousin Man-Man nem was chasing after him to play his senior season on their campus. Even duns like Auburn, Ohio State, Tennessee, Utah, UCLA and Florida State were ready to shoot their best shot but couldn’t get close enough to holler. You know how boyz at the club try to roll up on a young lady and holla-holla.

Hurts is a huge pick up for the Sooners with Kyler Murray declaring for the NFL draft and leaving campus. At Alabama Jalen was 26-2 as a starter before he lost his job to Tua Tagovailoa earlier this season.

Don’t get it twisted, ole boy can still ball and OU has had a 100 percent success rate with transfer quarterbacks as of late. Baker Mayfield transferred from Texas Tech and won the Heisman, Then Kyler Murray came rolling in from Texas A&M and won the Heisman this year after sitting behind Baker for a season. Keep in mind that they were both from the state of Texas. Now Jalen, who is from Texas, is pulling up in the Big Body Chevy with a 26-2 record and a national championship under his belt. I’m just saying.

Can Lincoln Riley pull a rabbit out of his hat and pull a back-to-back-to-back in Heisman Trophy winners and three straight College Football Playoff appearances? Maybe this transfer can win it all because he’s got the pedigree. We’ll see but boyz in Norman sure are excited. Stop me when I start lyin’!
