IU dismisses Morgan Ellison after sexual assault investigation while the police do nothing? “Head Scratcher”

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana University announced on Friday that running back Morgan Ellison has been dismissed from the football team and suspended from the university for two and a half years after a panel concluded that he raped another student. Well…the official statement said he engaged in nonconsensual sex with another student. That’s rape by any sound definition.

Ellison, the team’s leading rusher last season, had already been suspended from the team before the season started as a result of this ongoing investigation. However, he’d returned to practice earlier this month.

The investigation came about when a student told the IndyStar that her roommates allowed Ellison to spend the night at their off-campus apartment only to wake up and find him on top of her. The panel concluded that ole boy did, in fact, engage in sexual activity with the woman while she was asleep and that he used force during the incident. That led to their decision to suspend him from the university for two and a half years.

But let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Why isn’t this dun in jail? Why isn’t he the subject of a police investigation? If their is enough evidence to come to the conclusion that he was having sex with the woman and she says that it wasn’t consensual. Then why isn’t there charges filed and this playing out in criminal court? That’s crazy to me?

He’s at the very least admitting to having sex because he’s saying that the sex was consensual. She’s saying that it wasn’t so why isn’t this playing out in a court of law? Suspending him from the school doesn’t fix the bigger issue here. All they’ve done was remove an alleged predator from their campus and allowed him to roam free somewhere else.

If, in fact, he did do what the young lady has accused him of doing then he’ll do it again somewhere else. What’s up with the Bloomington Police Department on this one? Again, if there was enough evidence to first suspend him from the football team over the summer and then bring him back to the team earlier this month only to kick him completely out of school based on the panel’s findings. Then there should have been enough evidence to at least go to trial. Right? Otherwise, none of it adds up.

At least in the Jameis Winston foolishness at Florida State they were consistent with their findings on campus and with the police investigation. Neither found enough evidence to move forward but in this case the university found enough but the police didn’t. That makes no sense at all.

The police had to have investigated, at the very least, the claim of the sexual assault here. I can’t believe that they completely sat on their hands. That doesn’t make sense. So what did they find out that the university refused to look at or vice versa? Uhhhh…..I’m scratching my head on that one. It’s a sad situation none the less. Stop me when I start lyin’.
