College football is the greatest game in the world because it’s highly unpredictable. On any given Saturday a boy can go down and go down bad. Upsets lurk around each corner and cats will come out of nowhere on you in a minute.
Well playas…it’s happening before our eyes right now. The No.17 ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers have emerged as a real threat in the Big Ten sitting 9-0 after knocking off No.4 Penn State 31-26. They’ve been getting the side eye for the last few weeks in the College Football Playoff and AP Poll rankings. Even though they were undefeated in the same Big Ten as THEE Ohio State Buckeyes and Penn State play in they were ranked 17th and 13th respectively in those polls.
However, Penn State was ranked No.4 and Ohio State was sitting at No.1 in the CFP ranking and No.3 in the AP Poll. Now don’t get it twisted, Minnesota ain’t Ohio State but they do play in the same conference and they just knocked off Penn State. They are undefeated right now so give them credit for doing what most teams haven’t been able to do.
So how in the world were they not in the Top 10 coming into Week 11 about to play Penn State? Now that they’ve knocked off the Nittany Lions on Saturday what do you do with them? They should, at the bear minimum be ranked 4th or 5th either in front of or behind Baylor. I don’t care which spot you put them in because both they still have to play great teams. Baylor’s got Oklahoma coming up and Minnesota will have to play Ohio State if they can make it to the Big Ten title game. That’s assuming that both Minnesota and OSU win out.
My point is this, rank the teams where they deserve to be ranked right now. Stop playing games and ranking boyz on how you feel and what you think their reputation says. No team with a loss should be ranked ahead of Baylor and Minnesota this late in the season. And don’t give me that “They haven’t played anybody yet” BS because Alabama is ranked No.1 or No.2 all year every year and they don’t play ANYBODY until the LSU game annually. Stop it!!!
Bama has the reputation of winning because they hustle the system by not playing anybody until the first or second week of November every year. They NEVER leave Tuscaloosa to play a non-conference Power 5 team and if they do it’s on a neutral field. That’s called hiding where I’m from playa. That’s called talking trash on the front porch close enough for Big Momma to save you if a boy runs up on the porch after you.
Stop disrespecting Minnesota!!! They beat the No.4 team in America and are now 9-0 going into Week 12. They should be ranked in the Top 5 this week if you’re using the same logic you ranked Bama No.2 last week. You don’t have to play anybody to be ranked in the Top 4 just undefeated. That’s the Bama logic that’s been working for years. They’ve gone on to win national title with that thinking too. Stop me when I start lyin’!
