INDIANAPOLIS–It’s about to be Chris Brown over at Tech on Monday Night playas! That’s “On and Poppin'” for y’all that’s sleepin’! Top seeded Cathedral blasts Manuel 65-48 in the City Tournament semifinal to advance. Then Howe comes in, jumps out of the Big Body Chevy to put in enough work to out last third seeded Tindley 74-72 in the second semifinal.
After Cathedral handled their business in Game One you already knew that it was about to be a problem when both Howe and Tindley came out on the court for warmups in white uniforms. Boyz were like, what? How’s this goin’ to work playa? I’m gettin’ ready to cover the joint and both teams are in white. It’s about to be a problem up in here.
So Tindley’s administrators had to go back to the crib, pick up the road maroon joints and come back. So there was a delay gettin’ started. However, once they tipped it off it got real. Boyz got up and down the floor and Howe was not hearin’ the word upset because in their minds they weren’t the underdog. They wanted their respect because they laced them up the same as everybody else.
At the break Howe was up 39-35 as they woke up the sleepin’ giant in the third quarter. The dun they call E-Buckets, Eric Hunter Jr., the Purdue signee, climbed out of the whip firin’ off shots scorin’ 14 of his game high 33 points in the third quarter alone to help Tindley take a 60-52 lead goin’ into the fourth.
However, Howe let a boy know that they were from the same place Tindley was from. So it was a battle down the stretch with Kycia Washington puttin’ the Hornets on his back finishin’ the night with 23 points. Tony Hopkins came out of the passenger side with 18 as Jamil Turner-Hall stood up in the power hole with 13.
Talk about some young thunder cats playin’ with the hearts of lions! You gotta give the Howe Hornets crazy props for leavin’ it all out on the floor on Saturday night. It should be a good one on Monday night. All I can say, in my Terrell Owens voice is, “Get Ya Popcorn Ready.” Stop me when I start lyin’!
