How Warren Central could go down as the BEST TEAM EVER if they win State! “Livin’ Legends”

With one more win these Young Thunder Cats from the FAR EAST SIDE will become livin' legends. Photo: Warren Central Athletics

Confucius once said, “The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.” Ralph Marston, the motivational speaker and writer, broke it down like this, “Excellence is not a skill, it’s an attitude.” Then Vince Lombardi poured out a little liquor for all the dead homies when he spit, “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”

Well playas…ole Vince never ran into the No.1 ranked and undefeated Warren Central Warriors. If they can pull off one more win they will not only capture the Indiana Class 4A Boys Basketball State Championship but they’ll become the ONLY team in the history of Indiana High School basketball to go 32-0. You read that right playa! The ONLY team in the history of hoopin’ in Indiana to win 32 ball games and do it without a loss!! ONLY!! Ben Davis won it all in 1994-’95 winnin’ 32 games but they had a loss playa.

So in reality they would go down as the BEST TEAM EVER!!! I didn’t say the most talented playboy! I said the best TEAM ever. The most wins and ZERO losses? You would have to put them at the top of the mountain no questions asked.

There have been other teams to go unblemished but none to win as many games. NONE!!

The first team to go undefeated and win a state title was the 1955-56 Attucks squad as they went 31-0. The 1956-57 South Bend Central team followed with 30-0. George McGinnis led the Washington Continentals to the title in 1968-69 goin’ 31-0.

Then East Chicago burst onto the scene two seasons in a row with two different schools. Washington went 29-0 in ’69-’70 and Roosevelt registered a 28-0 boy in ’70-’71. We had to wait until 1984-85 for Marion put up a 29-0 record.

More than 18 years passed before we saw two teams give us undefeated seasons in two different classes. In 2003 Pike won the Class 4A title with a 29-0 boy and Cass hit us up with a 26-0 joint in Class A. Keep in mind that Indiana basketball was one Class from 1911 until 1997. Then they all but ruined high school basketball in this state goin’ to this four class system so that more teams could have a chance to claim a state title. If there had been only one class there would be one less team claimin’ an undefeated season that year.

Enough of that foolishness lets get back to the business at hand. Waldron win it all in ’04 with a 27-0 record. Lawrence North hit ‘um up with a 29-0 season in ’05-’06 followed by the last team to register an undefeated season, Bloomington South in ’08-’09 at 26-0.

So there you have it bruh. Not one team has gone the distance and won it all with 32 wins!! If these Young Thunder Cats from the FAR EAST EAST can pull it off on Saturday against Carmel, IMMORTALIZE them playa!! They would have reached excellence and you’ve got to put them on the top of the mountain. The BEST TO EVER DO IT!

Save the arguments on who had the better players because this ain’t that. We’re talkin’ TEAM and the only thing that counts when you’re talkin’ TEAM is wins and losses. With one more win they would instantly become livin’ legends. Why? Because they’ve been hoopin’ in Indiana for more than 107 years and NOBODY’S won 32 games!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Spit: verb – to say

2) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

3) Put it where the goats can get it: verb phrase – to make it as elementary as possible. To put it at ground level so everyone can understand it.

4) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
