It’s crazy to me that many of these media-types forget that they are being paid to give their opinions and they should always come with some serious thought. Why? Because if you’re getting paid then someone believes that you’re an expert in that particular field. You’re not asked to allow your emotions to get in the way of logic and facts.
However, duns do it anyway like they’re sitting around in the barber shop talking crazy with the fellas. After Duke showed up in Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago and destroyed Kentucky in the State Farm Championships. Everybody and their baby’s momma’s momma, Ms. Jackson, jumped out of the birthday cake butt naked foaming at the mouth talking about how they could literally beat the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Well playas…they darn near got ran out of the gym at the Maui Invitational on Wednesday night only to save face by being able to hold on to the end of the rope to make it a game down the stretch. They eventually loss 89-87 to Gonzaga. The young freshmen looked like freshmen in the first half as the Bulldogs bit into them shooting 70 percent from the field before the break only to come out of the break going 6 of 7 before cooling off.
In the famous words of Mike Tyson, “Everybody’s got a plan until they get punched in the mouth!” See Duke got off the plane to kick it in Hawaii not to really play in a tournament…for real. They’d already jumped on Auburn Tuesday night, went back to the hotel and kicked it some more. Then they got up the next morning and wasn’t even thinking about Gon-who? Y’all know the drill! When young cats think that they’ve got it handled they aren’t willing to listen to anybody telling them, “Hey bruh! Gonzaga is the real deal. They’ve got experience and you can’t substitute that when they’re ready to play.”
Of course Duke’s got potentially the top three picks in the draft next year in Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett. There was more than 32 NBA scouts and front office personnel there to watch this foolishness and they knew it. So can you imagine how hard it is to humble these cats and get them ready to actually compete like somebody can literally beat them?
Naw playa…this had to happen because they would have gone around thinking that talent alone wins basketball games. It’s better that they lose now than to get through the entire season and get body-blowed in the NCAA Tournament like the Kentucky Wildcats did when they won their first 38 games in 2014-15 too only get knocked off. I know Coach K is like, “Yes!!! Now they’ll finally shut the heck up and listen to what I’ve been trying to tell them.” Now he can finally coach them. They probably won’t lose another game all season because they’ve got something to prove. Stop me when I start lyin’!
