Eagles Darius Slay keeps it 100 on his feelings about playing in a pandemic only to change his tune minutes later. I wonder why?

I’ve said and I’ll continue to say that it’s extremely irresponsible for folks to be playing contact sports in the middle of a pandemic. The NBA came up with the best case scenario by creating a bubble and keeping everyone involved inside of it.

Daily testing of players and staff and requiring anyone that comes into the environment to quarantine. They literally created a sterile environment and it has worked. I’d have to admit that I didn’t think that it would work because I didn’t think boyz would follow the rules. However, with the exception of a couple of knuckleheads they all have.

On the other end, the NFL is becoming a complete disaster with positive tests popping up all over the place. Sure, they’re testing everyday but players aren’t in a bubble which was impossible to create because there are too many players and staff to account for in one place.

There is no place that you can create 14 or 15 football fields to practice and play on in one place and as many training facilities for teams to workout in. So players are going home every night and getting into whatever they want to after hours without league supervision or following any types of protocols. It’s becoming a dumpster fire right now.

On Wednesday Eagles cornerback Darius Slay slipped up and said what was really on his mind when asked his thoughts about the positive tests popping up across the league. “My true opinion, I felt like we shouldn’t have even had one because of what was going on. It’s a difficult time.”

He went on to say, “We all make sacrifices and we made them. I think our staff and our team and the Eagles are doing a great job of securing us, and I think everyone is kind of committed to doing their job and making sure we can play Sunday. We continue to keep knocking on wood. We haven’t had a sickness here yet so we’ll continue to keep trying to find a way.”

Somebody must have pulled ole boy to the side after he finished speaking with reporters and told him to clean that up because the league wouldn’t be too happy with what he just said. So literally minutes later he returned to the video conference to clarify that these were “his feelings” before the start of the season. He went on to say that he grew comfortable with playing once he learned of the COVID-19 safety protocols in place.

I guess that sounded better huh? Ole boy is essentially saying that he doesn’t want to be there because this is stupid. They’re walking around with masks on trying to keep from breathing on one another and socially distancing. However, they show up on game day and take them off and breathe on their opponents for 60 minutes. How much sense does that actually make?

It’s the same foolishness at the collegiate level and don’t even get me started on the high school or lower levels. At least in college they’ve got the resources to test their players weekly or daily. In the high schools or lower they’re just waiting on a kid to exhibit symptoms. There could be any number of kids running around asymptotic spreading COVID-19 like wild flowers. It’s ridiculous!!

Well at least Darius Slay said what was real initially. Stop me when I start lyin’!
