Drew Brees must have slept through U.S. History AND he forgot that New Orleans is full of black folks! “Good Luck With That Playa”

Everybody and their baby’s momma, Uncle LeRoy, Billy Bob and cousin Ray-Ray has been witness to America on fire from protests as a result of the public lynching of George Floyd. Black folks in this country have been screaming for justice for more than 400 years. The White Lion slave ship landed in Virginia in August of 1619 with the first 20 African slaves and we’ve been catching hell in this country ever since.

After seeing an awaking of sorts over the past 10 days where all colors, creeds and nationalities have come together to say enough is enough. One of the biggest football stars in America showed us on Wednesday just how ignorant and self-centered some of our white brothers and sisters can still be.

When Saints quarterback and future Hall of Famer Drew Brees was asked how he would still feel about a teammate kneeling during the national anthem his response was the same. He said he will,  “never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America.”

This is the reason why racism and racial insensitivity in America still exists. I’ve said for years that even though we live in the same neighborhoods, work the same jobs, eat at the same restaurants and breathe the same air. We don’t live in the same world.

For Drew Brees to still take the same stance of ignorance to say that someone is disrespecting the flag is crazy. I’ll say it again, the flag represents the true ideals of America and included in that is the First Amendment that gives EVERY American the right to peaceably protest. Therefore, the very flag he’s talking about is the reason why people in America have the right to protest.

This country in and of itself was founded on protest. It was called the American Revolution. Just in case Drew Brees was asleep on the first day of US History back in high school let me put it where the goats can get it.

There was a group of cats known as the Sons of Liberty put together by a dun named Samuel Adams. Yes he was a real person not a beer since you’re so ignorant. It was a revolutionary organization in the 13 colonies that was put together to advance the rights of the European colonists to fight taxation from the British government.

Well…those same cats on December 16, 1773 angry and frustrated about the British government taxing them. They broke into British ships ported at Griffin’s Wharf in Boston, Massachusetts. They took property, 342 chests of tea, imported by the British East India Company, that DID NOT belong to them and threw it overboard into the Boston Harbor. This was known as the Boston Tea Party.

That was the original act of looting in America during a violent protest because they destroyed property that DID NOT belong to them. See how history keeps repeating itself?

So for Drew Brees to act like because he lives in a world that is void of racism and foolishness doesn’t mean that we all live in that same world. I wish that I could wake up in the mornings and live that same freedom but I don’t have that luxury. I’ve got to warn my children of the dangers of simply getting home in the evening without being harassed by the police for living in the wrong neighborhood or driving a car that the police thinks that they shouldn’t be driving.

I’m constantly worried about some idiot that simply doesn’t like the color of my skin calling the police on me because I used the code to enter the swimming pool in my subdivision. I’m worried about spending money in a store and the clerk calling the police because they don’t think that it was my credit card etc.

We can’t sleep in our own beds at night without the police breaking in and shooting us 8 times and when we try to protect ourselves by shooting at those intruders, we’re charged with attempted murder. This is the ignorance that we have to deal with daily just being black in America.

So for someone like Drew to say that he still doesn’t respect the fact that black folks still need to protest in America wherever it may be is asinine. To say that kneeling is disrespectful to the American flag even after all of this means that he and people like him are the problem in America.

He should NEVER again say that his teammates are family. He doesn’t care about what those guys deal with after they leave the facility as long as they show up for practice the next day to help him win games and throw touchdowns.

He forgot that New Orleans is full of the very people he just told indirectly that he cares nothing about them. Good luck with that playa. Stop me when I start lyin’!
