Dak Prescott NEEDS a crash course in American History before he speaks again! “Embarrassment”

CLUELESSVILLE, USA — Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is standing by the foolishness that fell out of his mouth last week about his opinion of kneeling during the anthem. During an interview at Cowboys’ training camp over the weekend ole boy said, “I made my statements. I stand by what I said. Some people might have misunderstood or whatever, but I know what I said, and I feel strongly about what I said. It is what it is.”

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past week Prescott said, “I never protest during the anthem, and I don’t think that’s the time or the venue to do so. The game of football has always brought me such at peace, and I think it does the same for a lot of people, a lot of people playing the game, a lot of people watching the game, a lot of people that have any impact of the game. So when you bring such a controversy to the stadium, to the field, to the game, it takes away. It takes away from that. It takes away from the joy and the love that football brings to a lot of people.”

So over the weekend he goes on to say, “So for me, I’m all about making a change, making a difference, and I think this whole kneeling and all that was all about just raising awareness. The fact that we’re still talking about social injustice years later, I think we’ve got to that point. I think we’ve proved and we know that there’s social injustice. So I’m up for taking a next step that whatever that step may be for action and not just kneeling. I’ve always believed in standing up for what I believe in, and that’s what I’m going to continue to do.”

Well what do you believe in playboy? What next step should be taken? You sound crazy telling folks that they shouldn’t rock the boat when the folks complaining about the boat being rocked aren’t  experiencing the injustice the boat rockers and their families are experiencing. I know that I just said something I’m just waiting for you to catch up.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Maybe Dak should take a crash course in U.S. history so that he can understand that folks have been protesting for civil rights in this country since the emancipation. Until things change people will always use their platforms to make a difference. The only people that don’t agree with the protests are those unaffected by the police brutality, racial and social injustice.

One day ole Dak is going to have children that start to drive and move around this country without their father. They’re going to look just like him and the threat of them getting pulled over by the police will become very real. He’s always been the most recognizable cat in whatever town he’s lived in because he’s been the starting quarterback of the local team. So when he’s gotten pulled over his fame to some degree has kept him from the foolishness that occurs to the rest of us.

However, it won’t be until his children experience mistreatment out here in these streets that he’ll really understand what the majority of black folks deal with on a daily basis. It’s sad that a black man in America would act like protest for justice and equality has no place in America.

He makes the statement that “The fact that we’re still talking about social injustice years later, I think we’ve got to that point.” What he doesn’t understand is that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was killed on April 4, 1968 and seven days later President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968 better known as the “Fair Housing Act” that provided equal housing opportunity regardless of race, religion or national origin. This act officially ended what is historically known as the Civil Rights Movement that began on July 26, 1948 when President Harry Truman issued  executive order 9981 to end segregation in the armed forces.

The movement exploded because of the resistance from the mainstream. It took another twenty years to get the Fair Housing Act signed into law and thousands of casualties of war to bring about voting rights, the desegregation of schools and restaurants and public places. So Dak thinks that less than two years of active protest with resistance is going to end the ongoing police brutality, racial and social injustice occurring under the leadership of an oppressive president? Again, where’s he from and where does he live right now.

Now I can respect the fact that he doesn’t want to get involved because he’s simply not interested in messing up his money or career. However, those that are brave enough to step out in front to use their platforms to help bring about change in America have the fundamental right laid out by the First Amendment to do so.

As long as equality and justice is only being given to a select few in America there is always a place for protest. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Stop me when I start lyin’!
