Several years ago Jemele Hill suggested that if all of the best black athletes would just start going to the HBCU’s the landscape of college football and basketball would change. The exposure, tv revenue, and tickets sales etc. would follow. I was one of the first people to say that it sounds great but the toothpaste has already been squeezed out of the tube and it’s impossible to put it back in.
Once the predominantly white institutions (PWI’s) figured out that it was more beneficial for them financially to allow black athletes to play on their teams just prior to 1970. It’s been a gold rush raiding not only the black colleges but every hood and urban area in America.
It seemed impossible to turn this shift around. However, Deion Sanders better known these days as Coach Prime if your nasty, has completely changed the game because he “Believed” that it was bigger than him.
Not only does he Believe but “I Believe” too!!! It took someone like Deion Sanders to change our minds and get us to understand that it can happen. He was the perfect person to do it because he literally can say that it’s not about the money. He’s got the money and fame already.
Kids are not only leaving PWI’s but Power 5 schools to come play for him at Jackson State in droves!!!
Some will say that it was initially kids that weren’t getting run at those big schools but understand this, they were still better than what was in the SWAC at the time. Now he’s flipping the best of the best. Earlier this week he signed the No.1 overall prospect in America, Travis Hunter Jr. from his Alma Mater FSU to JSU.
The game has officially changed now!
Sure, the outside world is highly upset but Jackson State and Deion Sanders is at the forefront of a movement. Don’t hate on the movement because our precious resources are starting to go back home. For too long Africa has been robbed of its natural resources even here in America. Now it’s time to keep them. Go Coach Prime and JSU! BOOM!!!!!
