Boyz up in Ann Arbor have been waitin’ a long time to see Chris Webber back on the yard. Well playas, it’s looks like it’s goin’ to finally happen. On Friday while ole boy was makin’ an appearance on local radio station WTKA 1050-AM in Ann Arbor. Jim Harbaugh called in and asked him if he’d be willin’ come back and the former front man of the Fab Five accepted his invitation. The head coach wants him to be the honor captain at game this upcomin’ season.
“Coach, you know, that’s no problem. I’m definitely honored, and as you know, getting to speak to you over the years, I love what you’ve done with the program and good luck. Yeah, I’ll definitely be a part of it. Followed you guys going to, I think to Rome and all that good stuff. I heard you’re going to Africa next year, I’m going to try to jump in the suitcase with you guys. I would definitely be honored, Coach. You know, I would do anything for you. The No. 4’s at Michigan need to stick together.”
C-Webb left the University of Michigan after his sophomore season in 1993 to enter the NBA draft. He was later caught up in NCAA violations for takin’ bread from a cat named Ed Martin. Not only did Michigan have to forfeit the games won while he was there but they were forced to remove their Final Four banners as well. To make matters worse, the NCAA imposed a 10-year ban of Webber to the University and ole boy hasn’t been back since.
And on the real talk, I can’t blame him because he and the rest of his boyz made the school millions and they never gave that any of that bread back. The NCAA is so hypocritical it’s ridiculous but it is what it is right?
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! It’s definitely time for Webber to put back on the Maze and Blue and show up in Ann Arbor. It’s 2018 for cryin’ out loud! And ole boy is from Detroit!!! He’s one of the school’s most famous alumni that put the University of Michigan’s basketball program on center stage and made it legendary with the Fab Five.
Now l’m sad that it took Jim Harbaugh’s invite to get him to commit to comin’ back because Jalen Rose and the rest of the Fab Five have been tryin’ to get the dun to support the hoops program for years. Remember when Glenn Robinson III and Co. went to the Final Four in Atlanta in 2013? All of the fellas were at the game sittin’ together and ole boy was actually in the buildin’ but chose to sit in a suite? Remember that foolishness?
That was shortly after the ban was lifted. So he dissed him own teammates when that should have been enough. If they weren’t trippin’ then he shouldn’t have either. However, I’m glad to see that he’s gotten over whatever he was on. Stop me when I start lyin’!
