Center Grove, Carmel, Ben Davis and Warren Central have the blueprint that everybody else needs to copy! “Winners Just Keep Winning”

No.1 Center Grove has been doing work but has to travel to Ben Davis on Friday night! Photo: TheJayGravesReport

Some things are automatic like the sun rising in the east and setting in the west, like hip hop music of the ’80’s sampling James Brown, like eating sweet potato pie at black folks houses on Thanksgiving. However, nothing is more automatic than Carmel, Ben Davis, Warren Central and Center Grove being the last four teams out of the M.I.C. standing in the playoffs!

You can bet your bottom dollar, in my Don Cornelius voice, that the four traditionally best programs in the state are always going to be standing. In other words, they will ALWAYS represent!

There was never any doubt that No.1 and undefeated Center Grove (11-0) would still be standing when the smoke cleared this weekend as they blasted Columbus East 55-7.

The defending Class 6A state champs Carmel (9-2) jumped all over Brownsburg in the first quarter to eventually walk out of the joint with a 21-7 victory.

However, boyz were looking side ways at Ben Davis and Warren Central during the regular season as they were both on the struggle bus relatively speaking for them. Meaning they loss more games than they won.

Ben Davis loss 5 of their first 7 ball games before going on a 3 game winning streak including blasting Perry Meridian on Friday night 41-6 to advance to the regionals to play Carmel next week at the crib. Now I think that it’s asinine that Carmel being the defending champ and the team with the better record has to travel but don’t let me get started. I could talk about that foolishness for the next month.

Warren Central was 2-5 in the regular season before hitting the reset button on a boy and doing what they are accustomed to doing…winning!!! They knocked off North Central last week in the Sectional opener and then shut down the high powered offense of Lawrence North on Friday night 21-7 to advance.

Say what you want but these programs have the DNA to win no matter what. I don’t care what the regular season records say. They’ve got the juice and they’re drinking it come playoff time playa.

Book it! It’s like Alabama running the SEC, Oklahoma running the Big 12, Clemson in the ACC or Ohio State always sitting on top of the Big 10. These four programs have the infrastructure, parent support and the players to win year in and year out. They’ve got the blueprint that everybody else needs to copy. Salute to these great programs and good luck next week. Stop me when I start lyin’!
