Center Grove, Ben Davis and Carmel advance to the Semi-State! Reminding boyz that the M.I.C. is still the best conference!

INDIANAPOLIS — On Friday night three out of the remaining four teams still alive in the M.I.C. advanced to the Class 6A Semi-State. Center Grove redeemed an early season loss to Warren Central by going over to the FAR EAST SIDE and exploding in the second half to beat the defending state champs 28-14.

It was a defensive battle in the first half with Warren Central scoring just before the half on a 44 yard strike from Cobe Moore to DeMarcus Brown to go up 7-6 at the break. Center Grove scored on it’s opening possession and missed the extra point. Those were the fireworks in the first half.

However, the Trojans wasted no time putting points on the board in the third quarter and by the time I bit into my hot dog good they were up 14-7. The War Horse, Carson Steele, was suited and booted for the first time this season after missing 11 games due to hamstring and ankle injuries. So in the first half he was literally getting his feet wet in the pool.

Well playas…late in the third quarter he dove head first into the deep end and popped one for 18 yards and then later in the fourth hit them again finishing the night with 97 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns. Not bad for a kid that hadn’t played all season. NUTS!!!

The Trojans with the War Horse becomes a dangerous team in these playoff streets.

All season long folks were doubting the M.I.C. because they were beating up on each other. At the end of the regular season there were four conference champions. Three of them are now in the Class 6A Semi-State next week. We saw schools in other conferences looking dominant because, let’s face it, they hadn’t played the type of schedule the M.I.C. plays.

Ben Davis ran over to Zionsville and took care of business blasting them 28-7. While the Carmel Greyhounds went up to, then undefeated, Homestead and beat the brakes, doors, windows and transmission off of them 31-7. Telling me that you’re undefeated up north simply tells me that you’ve not played anybody. It doesn’t say that you’re really that good.

Now Ben Davis has to make the trip to Greenwood next week to try to slow down the War Horse and Co. which should be a thriller because BD is purring like a kitten right now. The question is, can CG slow down the Giants? It should be fun to watch.

Carmel plays Merrillville next week at home and the Greyhounds are rolling right now. John Hebert and Co. have won 7 straight Regional championships and they could potentially be back in the state title game again this year if they can take care of business at home next week. Stop me when I start lyin’!
