WEST SIDE, INDY — The Indiana high school football season kicked off on Friday night in the middle of a pandemic. Ben Davis hosted Brownsburg looking to win their 500th game in school history but the Bulldogs shut that down before it could even get started.

Before I could bite into my hot dog good they were up 14-0 after scoring on their first two possessions and it was Chris Brown “On and Poppin'” after that. When the smoke finally cleared Brownsburg was walking out of the joint with a 38-7 victory.

Because they had gone up 35-0 the mercy rule went into effect where the running clock was implemented the rest of the way.

Brownsburg quarterback Ben Easters did work going 14-of-19 passing for 136 yards and a touchdown to lead the No.3 Bulldogs past No.5 Ben Davis.

Ben Davis struggled out of the gate with excessive penalties and turnovers that kept them from ever settling into a rhythm. They were held to only 41 yard total offense in the first half as the were down 31-0 at the break.

BD quarterback J’Uan Swanson saved the Giants from getting shut out by throwing a 7-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Moore with 2:06 left to play.

The Giants will look to regroup as a unit next week when they travel to Avon on Friday.
