Browns GM even considering Condoleezza Rice screams front office dysfunction! “Perennial Losers”

CLEVELAND — This past summer I wrote an article entitled “The Firm” that explained that players don’t win championships organizations do. There is a reason why some franchises win on a regular basis and others remain in the toilet. Teams like Pittsburgh and New England are always contenders and there is a reason why they’ve won more Super Bowls than anyone else. There was a reason why at one point in NBA history that the Lakers and Celtics owned more than fifty percent of all NBA titles. It’s because they were the best run franchises in the league.

On the other side of that are the organizations that can never get out of their own way. They’re what we call perennial losers or bottom feeders because they’ve been swallowed up by a culture of making dumb decisions in the front office and they can never make sensible decisions to elevate their organizations. Over the weekend sources close to the Cleveland situation said that last week the Browns general manager, John Dorsey, actually said out of his own mouth that he’s open to hiring a woman as Cleveland’s next head coach and Condoleezza Rice was on the top of the list.

She immediately went to Facebook and dropped this excellent response to this foolishness:

I couldn’t agree more with Condoleezza. I believe that women should have the opportunity to coach if they so chose to. There needs to be opportunities for them to become position coaches, coordinators and then head coaches. However, for the dun to jump out of the birthday cake butt naked foaming at the mouth saying that he wants to interview someone that has absolutely no coaching experience at any level of football to run an NFL team is asinine. He should be fired for even saying it out loud.

This has nothing to do with him suggesting that he wants to hire a woman. It has everything to do with wanting to hire someone that has never coached football before. It would sound just as stupid if he said he wanted to interview Barack Obama as well. They are great leaders but they don’t know football at the level they would need to it to coach it at the highest level. And yes, I understand that the coordinators put together the game plans etc. but the head coach still needs to understand what’s going on better than most people in the building. Where is this cat from? This isn’t the recreation league at the YMCA. It’s the National Football League.

Sure Condoleezza was the Secretary of State and knows more about leadership than 99.9999 percent of folks breathing but she’s not a football coach. So to put that in the air is crazy and further proves my point as to why certain organizations continue to be bottom feeders. Before Cleveland hires a new head coach they need to hire a new general manager because this guy is out of his mind.

Once the word got out Dorsey issued a statement to try to convince folks that he wasn’t all the way crazy that said, “Our coaching search will be thorough and deliberate, but we are still in the process of composing the list of candidates and Secretary Rice has not been discussed.” Too late playa. Stop me when I start lyin’!
