Boilermakers have hit the bricks 0-3 even after Blough breaks school passing record! “OUCH”

WEST LAFAYETTE, IN. — Jeff Brohm talked a $100,000 worth of noise last week about pullin’ players that get anywhere near a 15 yard penalty on Saturday because of the bone head penalties they’ve suffered in Week’s 1 and 2. The Boilermakers loss to both Northwestern and Eastern Michigan because of stupid penalties. So Brohm supposedly had had enough.

Well…the reality is, he’s not coachin’ at Alabama, Ohio State or Georgia somewhere bruh. He’s at Purdue. So his depth chart drops off significantly from the first team to the second. Therefore, in their 40-37 loss to Mizzou as time expired on a Tucker McCann 25 yard field goal you couldn’t blame him for blowin’ smoke all week about gettin’ tough on his players.

Brohm had two players pick up 15 yard penalties on Saturday. Center Kirk Barron picked up the first one and never left the game. Then Lorenzo Neal, who picked up one against Northwestern down the stretch, got hit with another unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for roughing the passer. He was pulled for one play and was sent right back in.

You can’t blame Brohm for playin’ his best players because he’s tryin’ to win games. The only problem is, his best players aren’t playin’ with any discipline and that hurts.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! He’s got a helluva offense but his defense can’t hold water in a brass cup. He couldn’t have asked for a better performance from his offense on Saturday. David Blough finished the night goin’ 39 of 55 for a career high and school record 572 yards passing and 4 touchdowns (3 passing and 1 running). You do realize that both Bob Griese and Drew Brees played a Purdue right? Blough threw for more yards in one game than either of the Hall of Fame quarterbacks that have blessed Ross-Ade Stadium. Brees isn’t there yet because he’s still playin’ playa. He’s a first ballot Hall of Famer, book it.

So the Boilermakers get out of the gate 0-3 and their record isn’t at all indicative of the team we’ve seen play for the past three weeks. They’re a much better ball club than that. However, they aren’t very disciplined and give up way too many points on defense but 0-3 is a tough punishment for them. It’s like gettin’ put on punishment for the entire summer for being 5 minutes late for dinner.

They couldn’t run the football but boy could they throw it. They had a total of 42 yards rushing between four ball carriers that included Blough. That’s a problem that needs fixing ASAP. But when a boy can put up 572 in the air it shouldn’t even come up in things that went wrong because they should have been celebrating a victory and not a loss this morning.

It’s gotta be rough looking downstate and seeing that the Hoosiers are 3-0 when you’re 0-3. I know that boyz will try to act like they aren’t paying attention to their arch rival smelling good this morning but they are. I know the fans are because they’ve got to sit next to an IU fan on Monday morning at work. It’s goin’ to be a long week for Boilermaker fans. Stop me when I start lyin’!
