Boilermakers come back down to earth as the Spartans take the air out of their wings! “Law of Gravity”

The Purdue Boilermakers have been on a high for the past 4 weeks after winning four straight. They were especially on Cloud 9 after knocking off then No.2 Ohio State in front of their home crowd. Well playas…Sir Isaac Newton’s Universal Law of Gravity says, “What goes up must come down.” The Boilermakers finally had to crash land in East Lansing on Saturday losing a tough one to the Spartans 23-13.

Even though the Boilermakers didn’t play their best game they still had life deep in the fourth quarter. With 3:42 remaining Michigan State blocked a Purdue field goal with Brohm and Co. down 16-13. Finally with 1:58 left to play Jalen Nailor went the distance on a 48 yard reception to seal the deal.

The Spartans’ front seven kept the usually calm and cool David Blough on his heels all day. They made him uncomfortable enough to throw three picks. He finished going 29 of 49 for 277 yards and zero touchdowns to go with the three interceptions.

However, even with the turnovers the Boilermakers had plenty of opportunities to score points in Michigan State territory. They kept coming away empty handed.

Jeff Brohm showed some frustration after the ball game and had this to say, “They executed better than us. I thought they played harder than us and I thought they made fewer mistakes. It’s a good learning experience for our team. That’s why we say it’s a one-game season. We did not get ready to play this game, come out and do the things necessary in order to win.”

Yeah I completely understand why Brohm’s not happy. However, Boilermaker fans aren’t really trippin’ about losing on the road to Michigan State right now. Boyz up in West Lafayette are happy that they’re competing week in and week out. There have been some lean years up there and Brohm has people excited about Purdue Football again. I’m sure they’ll take it. Stop me when I start lyin’!
