The 2020 Ball State Cardinals football team will go down in history for being the first team in program history to win a bowl game!!! That’s HUGE!!!! They pulled up in Tuscan at the Offerpad Arizona Bowl and beat the breaks, doors, transmission and back seats off of No.22 San Jose State 34-13. They put up 27 points by the half and moonwalked the rest of the way.
San Jose State came in undefeated with a little swag under their belts but Ball State was waiting down the street ready to take their sneakers and jewelry off of the them in broad daylight.
The Cardinals were very impressive in their first ever bowl victory. Give them their props for handling their business and giving the program the exposure it needs from a football perspective to get even better. Recruiting can improve, the confidence of the existing players goes up 100 percent and boosters and donors reach deeper into their pockets to support the program. Everybody wins.
Winning a bowl game on national television is major for the entire university. Congratulations to the Ball State football program for representing the MAC as their champions and then steam rolling San Jose State.
Now slow your roll playas…I was on social media after the game was over and Ball State fans were absolutely losing their minds talking about the Cardinals should be playing for a national title in the College Football Playoff. WHAT!!!??
So you win one funky bowl game against San Jose State out of the Mountain West and now you’re ready to play for a national title? Are you drunk or high or both?
Winning a bowl game against a team that was ranked No.22 allows you to skip the line and go all the way to the top? Really? There are whole gang of teams that would destroy Ball State that aren’t even close to playing for a national title. This is when the phrase stay in your lane is necessary.
