Aaron Henry SHINES: Gettin’ Cursed Out Ain’t Never Hurt Nobody! “Living Up to His Potential”

Last week during the opening round of the NCAA Tournament Tom Izzo went off on freshman Aaron Henry as the Michigan State Spartans struggled to get past No.15 seeded Bradley. Henry was lazy getting back down the floor on defense and ole boy snapped!!!

Well playas, that same kid that everybody was trying to defend a week ago showed up to the Sweet Sixteen with the full clown suit on complete with the water spittin’ flower and gave LSU the business!!! Ole boy led all scorers with 20 points and at one point during the game led Michigan State in points, rebounds and assists. In my Big Momma voice, “Gettin’ cursed out ain’t never hurt nobody!”

What was so crazy was that everybody and their baby’s momma got offended that Izzo went at him like that. All of the momma bears came out and started going off because the Michigan State head coach gave him some old fashioned tough love and a good cursing out. All you heard from folks was “He wouldn’t be cursin’ my baby out like that. I ain’t having it!”

That’s why your baby is at home with you this morning and not playing at a big time Blue Blood program in the NCAA Tournament on national television. Why? Because you don’t want anybody to push your kid past his comfort level.

Right after Izzo went off on the lil’/big homie I wrote a Crazy Hot Joint entitled “Great Expectations” where I said that everybody was completely overreacting. The following day I did a Podcast explaining to folks that Aaron Henry would be a better ball player as a result of it and sure enough the following week he comes out and shines like new money.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Henry has the potential to become a pro one day. Tom Izzo knows that because he coaches future NBA players all of the time. That’s caliber of player he recruits. So when he sees that a kid that isn’t living up to his potential, he gets that potential out of him and cursing a boy out is as simple as it gets.

It’s no different than when a parent sees that their kid isn’t living up to their potential and gives them the business. You’ve got two choices in this world playa. You can either respond to the challenges in life or you can quit and make excuses for the rest of your life.

Aaron Henry could have licked his wounds last week, quit the team, came back to Indianapolis and told everybody for the rest off his life that Tom Izzo cursed him out on national TV and he wasn’t having it. Sure, he could have but he would have forever been known as a quitter and an excuse maker. And oh yeah, a sucker for never living up to his potential. We all know cats like that.

Instead Aaron decided to take it like a G, live up to his potential and now he’s one step closer to playing in the Final Four and several steps closer to eventually playing in the NBA one day. Why? Because he responded positively to gettin’ cursed out by someone who only wanted the best for he and his teammates. Trusting the process isn’t just an old colloquialism. It’s being able to live up to the standards that it takes to be great. Remember this, “Gettin’ cursed out ain’t never hurt NOBODY!” Stop me when I start lyin’!
