FAR EAST SIDE, INDIANAPOLIS — The 2018 season is in the books and it was an incredible ride for the folks on the FAR EAST SIDE. DubZilla has graduated and now it’s time for a new beast to rise up in the Big Body Chevy. Warren Central finished the season with an undefeated Class 6A State Title and crazy confidence to go with it.

Graduating 40 seniors from last year’s team puts a lot of pressure on the youngsters looking to taking over. I spoke with head coach Jayson West on Wednesday about how he plans to replace the production of an offense, especially from the three headed monster, that was one of the all-time greats. His simple answer was “You can’t replace that type of production individually. We’ve got to work hard as a team to collectively play at a high level.”

He’s got about 6 starters returning from last years state title team. However, it’s still Warren Central!! They don’t rebuild. They reload. Even though there are only 6 returning starters they’ve got about 20 kids with game experience that understands what it takes to compete at a high level.

Their motto this season is “Brand New Team! Same Dream!” Don’t think for one minute that the young thunder cats from the FAR EAST SIDE won’t be all up in the mix in the M.I.C. this year because there are a bunch of new faces. It’s still Dub C at the end of the day.

Coach West says, “We’ve got a really good group of kids that we can rely on to get it done. They’re hard workers and they understand the model of success.” They’ve seen what excellence looks like and will be pushing the rest of the conference.

Coach West will be relying on some new leaders to take his team to the next level in 2019. He’ll look to defensive lineman Marquise Cross, running back Randy Wells, tight end and quarterback Cobe Moore, offensive lineman Jake Wellmann, defensive back Jaiveon Stanberry as well as wide out Derek Allen. These are the guys that will carry the torch for the Warriors.

I can’t wait to see the “Brand new team with the same Dream next week when they open with Center Grove. It should be fun to watch them compete. Stop me when I start lyin’!
