Why Urban Meyer needs to go somewhere and sit down! “Why Bruh?”

The Jacksonville Jaguars have hired Urban Meyer as their new head coach. From a football standpoint and on paper it makes all of the sense in the world. However, I’m scratching my head and asking the question “What is Urban Meyer thinking?”

Not because the Jaguars were absolutely terrible this past season finishing 1-15 or the fact that it’s one of the worst franchises in the NFL. Why would Meyer get back into the coaching seat and put the stress on his body that he clearly doesn’t need.

He retired from coaching twice due to health reasons. He left Florida because of problems with severe chest pains. He was diagnosed with having esophageal spasms, which caused the severe chest pains he’d been experiencing.

In 2018 he fell to his knees in a game against Indiana while at Ohio State with a severe headache. He was later diagnosed with having a congenital arachnoid cyst in his brain.

All of your natural born haters will say that he used those health scares as excuses to leave those programs because of potential scandals brewing. I won’t speculate on that foolishness because there is no proof of that. What we do know is that the dun can coach his butt off.

Meyer began his head-coaching career in 2001 at Bowling Green. In two seasons with the Falcons he went 17-6 before taking off and landing in Utah. In just two seasons there he went 22-2, including a 12-0 run in 2004 and a Fiesta Bowl appearance.

That was good enough for the Florida Gators to come calling after they fired Ron Zook. After going 8-5 in his first season at Florida the program took off under his direction. He won two national titles with the Gators in 2006 and 2008 and finished with a 65-15 record in six seasons in Gainsville.

In 2011 he took over in Columbus to lead THEE Ohio State Buckeyes where he won a national title in 2014 and compiling a 83-9 record in seven seasons. There’s never been a question as to whether the man can coach. He’s a freakin’ genius at leading programs.

However, why put his body through the stress of trying to resurrect another program? This one is literally flat-lined on the table with embalming fluid running through its veins. I’m not saying that Meyer can’t bring it back to life but why? Why take the risk at causing more damage to his health and for what?

He doesn’t need the bread and the recognition of being called a great coach because he’s already done that.

Some cats are just addicted the game and just can’t go sit down. Urban Meyer is one of them.
