INDIANAPOLIS– Wes Stowers finished Tuesday night’s game with 36 points as the Knights knocked off the No.3 Saint Francis 83-74. Marian is now 16-7 and 6-5 in Crossroads League play.

Coming into Tuesday night’s game the Knights looked for revenge as they lost earlier this season to Saint Francis. This game was a little different, directly from the start Marian wanted to make a statement pushing the lead to as many as 20 points. In the first half, the Knights knocked down threes and forced three turnovers to have the lead 20-12 going in to the first media timeout.

Reginald Kissoonlal was a defensive monster in the first half with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks which led to a 13-4 run midway through the half. Marian shot the ball well in the first half shooting 56 percent from the 3-point line and 57 percent from the field.

In the beginning of the first half the Cougars went out to an 8-0 run to bring the deficit down to seven at the 15:33 mark. With a big block from Reginald Kissoonlal and a dagger three from Wes Stowers helped the Knights regain momentum pushing the lead back to double digits.

The rest of the way the Knights answered the Cougars every step of the way. Andrew Jordan helped by adding 10 rebounds and three blocks as Kissoonlol sat midway through the second half with foul trouble. Stowers finished the game with 36 points and six rebounds, while Sterling Brown added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

Saint Francis never came closer than eight the rest of the way with Marian earning their biggest upset since 2015 defeating No.2 Indiana Wesleyan. The Knights will travel to Taylor Saturday for a 3p.m. tipoff.
