INDIANAPOLIS — Well playas…the Warren Central Warriors kicked off the season ranked No.1 and on Saturday night they ended it ranked No.1. As a matter of fact, they ended it undefeated with a record of 14-0 to go along with their basketball team’s 32-0 last spring. So on some real talk, they’ve completely dominated the calendar year in both football and basketball. Did I mention that the girls won the state title too. Well, let’s throw that into the conversation while I’ve got your attention but I’ve got an entirely different joint coming your way for all of the that. For right now let’s concentrate on these cats winning the title.
Coach Jayson West and Co. did a helluva job this season of keepin’ one of the best football teams to ever play in this state focused enough to keep balling even when they were clearly better than the field. It takes a huge effort to keep a load of cats with that much talent locked in every week. However, they were able to do it.
When the smoke cleared they were walking out of the joint with a 27-7 win over No.2 Carmel as they hoisted the Class 6A trophy. The All-Amercan, David Bell, was banged up and couldn’t get lose on a boy but did catch a few balls to keep Carmel honest. Warren did use him to tie up half of the field every few plays simply be running him out onto the field. If he’s out there you’ve got to account for him. Genius!!!
Problem for Warren Central? Not at all playa!! Secretariat from THE FAR EAST SIDE pulled the wagon and sparked the entire team. Romeir Elliott finished with 165 yards rushing on just 25 carries and three touchdowns including a 65 yard touchdown pass from Jayden George.
Bruh…if Romeir Elliott isn’t the 2018 Mr. Football it’s highway robbery!! After Saturday night’s performance he’s finished the season with 2,980 yards and 40 TDs. Wheredeydodatat? What he’s done this year is beyond remarkable.
Don’t let me get out of here without proppin’ the Warren Central defense. They balled out and literally took the nickname THE BEAST off of Carmel and put it on too. So now they own THE BEAST and DubZilla!! They held the Greyhounds to only 159 total yards and forced two turnovers. Willie Eaton got the sweet pick in the end zone just before the half and the lil’ homie Jaiveon Standberry picked one in the second half. The defense was something serious holding Dylan Downing to merely 51 yards on 13 carries. That’s NUTS!!!
So give it up to the homies from THE FAR EAST SIDE for quieting the critics, haters and wannabe’s yet again. They’ve done what the outside world thought that they couldn’t do and that’s to keep winning!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!
