INDIANAPOLIS — It’s Girls Sectional time and it all pops off tonight all over the state. However, if we’re being honest all eyes will be on Sectional 10 over at Cathedral because the big guns will be kicking the doors in like the Feds in Game 1. The defending Class 4A State Champs Warren Central (18-2) open the sectional with North Central (18-6).
Hold on a second dawg! One of the biggest matchups in the state is the opening game of the sectional? Rikki Harris (Ojio State signee) and Co. opens the joint against Shaila Beeler (Indiana signee) and Co. WHAT!!!? They put the best game as the first game? Wheredeydodatat?
I’m just giving you the #FACTS!! That’s the one everybody’s been waiting to see. Yeah, we all know that they just played on Friday with Warren Central winning. And yes, I know that Rikki hasn’t been healthy but it’s a “Do or Die” situation tonight so it’s all hands on deck. Everybody wants to see this one.
Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! I just wish that they would at least seed the sectional. I know that they don’t want to have folks traveling all over the state if they were to seed the entire tournament. I get that. However, it doesn’t make sense to have two of the best teams playing on the first night. One of them will be gone after tonight and then what?
What’s the point in playing the regular season if winning doesn’t help you get seeded in the tournament? Those 18 and 17 games they both won respectively were pointless. They could have won 3 games a piece and played the first game in the sectional.
Granted only one team can win but you’ve taken all of drama and suspense out of it when you take the two top teams and have them compete in the opening game.
Don’t get it twisted, anything can happen in the tournament because we saw Warren Central catch fire and win the whole thing last year. Therefore, I won’t sleep on Lawrence North (17-6) but it makes no sense to have North Central and Warren Central are playing out of the gate. Stop me when I start lyin’!
