INDIANAPOLIS — It was a big day in the NBA and for the Indiana Pacers! They introduced Kelly Krauskopf as the first woman assistant general manager in the history of the NBA! That’s major news and Indiana has set the bar high for the rest of the league. She will work with the Pacers’ basketball operations staff, including president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard, general manager Chad Buchanan and assistant GM Peter Dinwiddie.

It was an honor to be able to cover the introduction of such a great basketball mind and pioneer in the game of basketball. The Pacers’ owner, Herb Simon, released a statement that said as follows, “As the architect of one of the WNBA’s most successful franchises, Kelly is a true pioneer in our sport. I’ve worked with Kelly over the past two decades, so I know her tremendous basketball mind, strong work ethic and proven leadership skills will continue to be of great benefit to our organization.”

Kelly brings a wealth of experience to the Pacers after leading the WNBA’s Indiana Fever for the past 17 years as president and general manager. She just relinquished her GM duties in 2017 to oversee the Pacers’ new esports entry into the NBA2K League. In other words, she knows what she’s doing and the Indiana Pacers are happy to welcome her aboard. “Basketball knows no gender” like my man Nate McMillan said Monday afternoon after Pacers’ practice.
