The Lakers problem wasn’t Magic Johnson it’s Jeanie Buss! “Placing Blame”

Alright…enough of this foolishness!!!! Last Week Magic jumped on “First Take” with Stephen A. and Max spilling his guts about why it made sense for him to unprofessionally quit his job without telling Jeanie Buss hours before the Lakers final game. Now ESPN’s Baxter Holmes writes a ridiculous article about Magic essentially being a bully at the Lakers facility where employees say that they had panic attacks because the dun was straight forward.

He assembled everybody in the building that would be working for him and told them straight up that if they didn’t do their jobs they’d be replaced. Now how that becomes bullying is beyond me? The man told folks that they were replaceable. I’ve been in corporate America for almost 30 years and that is the premise that I leave the house with everyday.

However, none of this is the point!! The point is, we wouldn’t be having any of these dumb conversations if LeBron doesn’t miss 18 games with a groin injury. Stop it!!! If that dun plays the entire season even with all of the other injuries the Lakers had to deal with they still make the playoffs and everything is cool.

Sure, they didn’t get Anthony Daivs this spring but ole boy is surely coming because New Orleans has no choice but to give him up because he doesn’t want to be there. He’s a cancer to the organization as long as he’s there. So again, stop with the foolishness.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Yes, Magic made some bone head decisions putting the roster together around LeBron by bringing in cats like Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, Javale McGee and Michael Beasley. That was a complete dumpster fire from the word go. However, those decisions never would have been made had there been an owner that understood how to run a business.

Magic was never the problem, Jeanie Buss is!! Why? Because if she knew what she was doing Magic never would have been given the job once he told her that he wanted to work a full-time position, part-time. That ain’t Magic’s fault that’s on Jeanie.

What’s killing me is all of the folks blaming Magic or even Rob Pelinka for that matter for this foolishness when Jeanie has been making bone head decisions for years as to the reason we have the dysfunction in the first place.

When she paid Kobe Bryant $30 million for one year of basketball when he was clearly on the last leg of his career and then signed him two more years because in her words, “He’s earned it.” I was done. You never pay a player for what he’s done, you pay him for what he will potentially do for your organization. You’ve already paid him for what he’s done. That’s what the contract for the upcoming years on the deal is for.

When she made that decision, got on the Colin Cowherd Show, said that she was a fan of Kobe’s and that’s why she wanted to pay him, the team was him trouble. As much as folks loved Kobe they kept him three years too long. He still thought that he was the No.1 option when it was clear he wasn’t but they were paying him like he was. That was the beginning of the problem.

Magic is just the scapegoat now but the real problem with the Lakers is Jeanie Buss! Stop me when I start lyin’!
