The Big 12 makes Texas’ Breckyn Hager apologize to OU for keepin’ it real to the rivalry! “Ridiculous”

One of the greatest rivalries in the history of college football is the Oklahoma/Texas Red River Shootout/Rivalry. These marketing guys kill me wanting to change the name of the darn games because everybody wants to be politically correct on stuff that is completely innocent. But anyway, when teams have been rivals since the beginning of time the bad blood becomes part of tradition that’s literally second nature.

So on Saturday when Texas defensive end, Breckyn Hager, slammed OU’s defense when a reporter after the post-game interview of their beating of Iowa State told him that Oklahoma has just given up 40 points. He turned around as he was walking back to the locker room and said, “Hey, OU has no defense.”  Then ole boy stopped again and pointed at the clock and added, “Wait, wait — it’s 11:12 and what? OU still sucks.” CLASSIC!!!

It’s part of the rivalry and everybody and their baby’s momma that’s affiliated with Texas says it. Just like everybody from OU turns the horns down to trash the Longhorns. It’s all in the fun of the rivalry.

Well…the Big 12 didn’t think that it was funny or playful. They literally publically reprimanded this kid for saying that OU sucks!! I’m a Sooner fan and he wasn’t lying about their defense being terrible. It does suck and it has for at least 10 years.

As a result of the public reprimand Hager had to release a statement of apology to the Sooners because according to Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby, ole boy’s comments violated the league’s sportsmanship and ethical conduct policies. Really bruh? It read as follows:

“I had no ill intentions when I made my comments about Oklahoma, which included a phrase that’s used by fans, but I have to realize that it’s different coming from me. My thought process was that it would put a fun and light-hearted charge into the greatest rivalry in college football that my family has been involved in playing in for many years, but I can see now that was not the way to do it. I have the utmost respect for the University of Oklahoma and their football program.”

C’mon playa…this is the biggest piece of foolishness I’ve ever seen. It’s sports and it’s one of the biggest rivalries in college football. Where are these people from? Remember a few years ago when Michigan’s Mike Hart said during a media session that Michigan State was their little brothers? It was classic and now it’s played every time the Wolverines and Spartans get together to knock heads. It’s added fuel to the rivalry. That’s the beauty of college football. Without rivalries there would be no sport. Bad blood and trash talking between schools is what makes the game so exciting to watch.

I know that people love to make up in their heads that there are rivalries in the NFL but that’s simply not true. Players play where they get drafted or where the bread is the longest in free agency. A dun could play for Chicago this year and then play in Green Bay the following year and not care one bit about what the fans think. That’s not a rivalry. That’s called playing football for money. It’s business.

These kids grow up hating the other school and wouldn’t dare put on their colors much less enroll voluntarily. The kid playing at Bama has hated Auburn his entire life. The kid at Ohio State won’t even say the word Michigan. They say the team from up north. That’s college football and to make a kid issue an apology for living the college football dream is just plain stupid. Stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

 1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.
