Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Russell Wilson, just pulled the biggest GANGSTA move in the history of pro sports. After signing a four year extension last week worth $140 million with $65 million guaranteed making him the highest paid player in the league surpassing Aaron Rodgers. Ole boy took care of his offensive lineman.

In an unprecedented move Wilson gifted each of his 13 offensive lineman with $12,000 worth of Amazon stock. You read that right playa, 12 stacks worth of Amazon stock. In a letter to all of them he wrote, “You sacrifice your physical and mental well-being to protect me, which in turn allows me to provide and care for my family,” Wilson wrote. “This does not go unnoticed and it is never forgotten.”

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! Most cats run out and buy boyz Benz’s or Rolex watches etc. Those are cool but they get old or lost quickly because rich folks just tend to buy a lot of stuff. Sure, the Rolex doesn’t depreciate in value but duns tend to lose them or throw them into a box with other worthless jewelry they’ve grown tired of. Then it eventually gets loss.

However, when a dun buys his O-line Amazon stock which is probably the fastest growing company in the world that’s GANGSTA!!!  Twelve racks worth? In another five years that stock will probably double or triple in value and in 30 years it’ll be off of the charts.

Say what you want about Russell Wilson but he’s my new sports hero. If he’s buying $156,000 worth of stock (13 X $12,000) for other people you already know that he’s probably bought millions of dollars worth of Amazon stock for his own family.

Yeah…all of the cars, jewelry and clothes are cool but they all depreciate in value and that’s why within two years of retirement, according to Sports Illustrated, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress because of joblessness or divorce. In the same article published in March of 2009 entitled “How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke” it goes on to say that within five years of retirement, an estimated 60% of former NBA players are broke.

So for Russ for have the wherewithal to give a boy a gift like that says that he’s looking well beyond his actual retirement of this game and being mad comfortable with his wife and kids for years to come. The word says in Proverbs 13-22, A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.” So for lack of a better word what Russ did was STRAIGHT GANGSTA!!! Stop me when I start lyin’!
