WEST LAFAYETTE — Big Momma lost her wig and Uncle LeRoy got lost in all of the excitement at Ross-Ade Stadium as the Purdue Boilermakers jumped all over No.2 Ohio State beating the dog snot out of them 49-20. After losing their first three ball games of the season by a total of 7 points they’ve won 4 straight!!! Ohio State came in with their usual swag and obnoxious fans in tow but it wasn’t enough to hold off the Boilermakers from playing out of their minds.

Both teams went three and out on their opening possessions. Ohio State seemed a bit shook right from the start. On their initial possession they had a false start penalty and an illegal formation penalty. That seemed to set the tone for Ohio State.

As bad as the wind was blowing to start the ball game it was odd that Purdue called 7 straight passing plays before attempting to run it with DJ Knox. However, that was the game plan according to Jeff Brohm. In the post-game pressor he said, “We wanted to be aggressive right from the start because good things happen when you’re aggressive.”

After several possessions the Boilermakers go 15 plays for 98 yards to draw blood first to go up 7-0. It was their longest drive of the year in length and plays. On the very next Ohio State possession the Buckeyes marched right down the field with the help of Purdue’s Cornel Jones’ unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for pushing a player while he was already on the ground.

The same bone headed mistakes that cost them wins in the first three ball games of the season. However, the Boilermaker defense withstood the pressure and only gave up a Blake Haubeil 23 yard field goal to make it 7-3 Purdue with 14:14 left in the half.

Keep in mind that Ohio State came into this game averaging 46.3 points per game and Purdue held them in check with 3 points in the first half. Dwayne Haskins was extremely efficient with the football in the first two quarters going 20 of 26 for 173 yards with a passer rating of 132. However, the bend but don’t break Boilermaker defense kept he and the Buckeyes out of the end zone.

Meanwhile Purdue takes over and fakes a field goal on 4th and 3 as Joe Schopper rushed for 4 yards for the first down to the Ohio State 9 yard line. Purdue punches it in with a David Blough to Rondell Moore touchdown pass to put the Boilermakers up 14-3 with 27 seconds left in the half. Purdue gets to the break up by 11 points and everybody and their baby’s momma was going NUTS!!! They had the No.2 team in America on the ropes bleeding from the mouth, dazed and confused on NATIONAL TELEVISION. Here was the catch though, there was still another half of football to play.

Ohio State comes right out of the break and spreads Purdue out throwing bubble screams and quick passes to the flats making the Boilermakers defend one on one. They marched right on down the field but the Boilermaker defense held on to the end of rope only giving up an Haubeil 23 yard field goal to pull the Buckeyes within 8 points to make it 14-6 Purdue with 12:25 left in the third quarter.

Ohio State commits a roughing the kicker penalty after forcing a punt. It’s an automatic first down for the Boilermakers and DJ Knox runs for a 1 yard touchdown to put Purdue up 21-6 with 8:36 left in the third quarter.

Penalties were killing the Buckeyes all night. They ended up with 10 penalties for 86 yards. Keep in mind that neither team had committed a turnover up to that point. So boyz were waiting on that to become the back breaker. In my Huggy LowDown voice, “Waaaaait for it!!!”

Panic? Not at all playa. The Buckeyes marched that thang right on down the field and on 4th and 2 from the Purdue 2, Ohio State shoves all of the marbles to the middle of the table and the Boilermakers defense deflected the pass turning it over on downs!! NUTS!!!!! Purdue’s defense was ballin’!!!

At the 11:39 mark of the 4th quarter DJ Knox explodes down the middle of the field for a 42 yard TOUCHDOWN to put Purdue up 28-6!!! Buckeyes didn’t throw in the towel and on the very next possession they went 8 plays for 71 yards as Haskins connected with Johnnie Dixon on a 32 yard touchdown to make it 28-13 with 9:36 left.

Then all of a sudden the roof blew off of the joint when DJ Knox goes 40 yards for a touchdown to make it 35-13. The next thing you know it’s 49-20 and everybody and their baby’s momma is bum rushing the field!!!! The Purdue Boilermakers not only knocked off the No.2 team in America but they beat the brakes off of them. It’s a far cry from the 0-3 start with bone headed mistakes.

Now their gettin’ it in in West Lafayette on a 4 game winning streak!!! David Blough finishes the night going 25 of 43 for 378 yards and 3 TD’s. The true freshman, Rondell Moore, walks out of the joint with 12 catches for 170 yards and 2 touchdowns. DJ Knox clears the fence with 16 carries for 128 yards and 3 touchdowns. It was NUTS in West Lafayette on Saturday night bruh. Salute to Jeff Brohm and his staff for turning that ship around. Up next Michigan State! And oh yeah, stop me when I start lyin’!
