INDIANAPOLIS — Wednesday was national signing day for all of our outstanding high school football players around the country. It was a time to celebrate the achievements of these young men and the official send off, if you will, to the next level. There was one kid in particular that I would like to pause like a comma on and a give major shout to. It’s Pike offensive lineman, Jordyn “Boobie” Law. This young man not only signed a letter of Intent to play college football next year but he signed with the United States Military Academy at West Point!!! Let me say that again bruh, one of our young men signed with West Point!!!

That means that he not only balled out during his high school career but he handled his business in the classroom as well. Boobie was an outstanding leader on and off of the field that held onto a 3.6 GPA. He was a team captain on both the football and track teams. He was selected to the All-Marion County, All-M.I.C. and the IFCA Top 50 Football Teams as well as the IndyStar Super Team.

Jordyn won the Collin Kelly Mental Attitude Award, the M.I.C. Scholar Athlete Award, the Pike Scholar Athlete Award as well as being named the team MVP in 2018.

I mentioned all of his accolades because it’s important to highlight a young man that put in the work to represent not only himself but his family and his community as well.

Let’s keep it real or all the way 100, whichever comes 1st! So many of our young people are just going through the motions out here. So when I see a kid doing all of the right things, he needs to be applauded and held up so that others can see what’s possible if you believe in the process and keep grinding. Sure, everybody wants to be a great football player but it’s an amazing thing to be a great football player and a great student too. Why? Because the sky is the limit when you maximize your potential.

I also believe that’s it’s extremely important to give props to our young African-American men that are overachieving. The media doesn’t hesitate to put them on television when they’re committing crimes and failing in school. However, when our kids are shining they seem to ignore the work that they’ve done to get to the next level. Well playas…I won’t. I want to see ALL of our kids from every community succeed.

Boobie has done all of the right things and he’s set his future in motion for success. The United States Military Academy is one of the greatest institutions for higher learning that a young man can attend. He’ll become one of our greatest leaders one day but he’s already become an example that ALL kids can look up to. Major props to Jordyn “Boobie” Law for putting in the work and being a leader in our community. Oh yeah and represent M.I.C. Football at the next level. Stop me when I start lyin’!
