Packers run out of Soldier Field with bragging rights, for now! “The Rivalry hasn’t lost it’s shine!”

CHICAGO — The NFL season officially kicked off on Thursday night with one of the greatest rivalries in all of the NFL. The Packers invaded the windy city to play the Bears. It’s a matchup that goes back to 1921 when Curly Lambeau was coaching the Packers and George Halas was roaming the sidelines in Chicago.

Well playas…the nostagia was every bit as nice on Thursday night as the two divisional rivals met on the shores of Lake Michigan to bump heads once again. Green Bay walked out of the joint with a 10-3 victory as Aaron Rogers led the Packers back to Wisconsin with bragging rights, at least for now.

Both offenses got out of the gate on the struggle bus. Chicago got on the board first with an Eddy Pineiro 38-yard field goal to put the Bears up 3-0 with 2:44 left to play in the first quarter. Everybody and they Uncle LeRoy and cousin Man-Man were standing up biting their nails when ole boy kicked that field goal. They searched all over the league and even into the projects for a kicker this offseason.

When it was good you would have thought they’d scored on a 100 yard kick off return or something. The place went NUTS!!! There was absolute relief that the kid could make a field goal.

While Bears fans were celebrating the fact that the dun that was hired to kick field goals could actually kick one. They forgot that Aaron Rogers was still Aaron Rogers. He finally exploded on them with a 4 play 74 yard drive as he hit tight end Jimmy Graham on an 8-yard touchdown pass to go up 7-3.

Don’t get it twisted, both defenses were playing lights out all night so points came at a premium.

With 5:15 left to play Packers kicker, Mason Crosby, drilled a 39-yard field goal to extend their lead to 10-3.

With 1:16 left to play and the Bears threatening at the Packers 16 yard line Trubisky gets picked off by Adrian Amos. Green Bay does nothing with it going 3 and out giving the Bears another opportunity to capitalize but Trubisky is eventually sacked on a 4th and 8 with 1:02 left to play.

It was a great game in a rivalry that hasn’t lost it’s shine. After 199 games the Packers lead it 98-95-6. Unbelievable way to start the NFL season. Stop me when I start lyin’!
