You already know the drill. The Los Angeles Lakers were in town and the diehards came out of the woodwork on a boy. They showed up with every vintage jersey you could think of and the Lonzo Ball joints were everywhere. People were so excited to get into the buildin’ that they opened the arena to the fans at 5:30pm instead of the normal 6pm time.

Well playas…they ran in there early to see the Pacers go to work on the duns rockin’ the purple and gold. After givin’ up 37 points in the first quarter Nate McMillan’s crew put the clamps on and outscored the Lakers in the second and third quarters to keep Lonzo Ball and Co. at bay for the rest of the night.

The Lakers took a 59-57 lead into the break only for the Pacers to come out of the intermission on fire puttin’ up a 35 point third quarter to literally take the life out of LA. They hit 75% of their field goals in the third quarter. Then two teams pretty much traded baskets in the final quarter as the Lakers outscored Indiana 20-18 which wasn’t enough to overcome the third quarter beat down they received.

Myles Turner led the way for the Pacers with 21 points and 7 rebounds followed by Victor Oladipo’s 20. Ole boy put up 13 of that 20 in the second half. Thaddeus Young dropped off 18 as Lance “The Don Dada” came out of the bushes with 16 to help spark the home team.

Initially it looked like Brook Lopez was about to do work on these boyz because at the 7 minute mark of the first quarter he had 13 points and there was ABSOLUTELY no answer for him. However, Nate’s young thunder cats locked down and held him to only 10 additional points the rest of the way.

This win ended a two game losin’ streak for the Pacers and made it three consecutive losses for the Lakers. Also that loss was the fifth steak loss for LA in Naptown.

Up next: Indiana has to travel to New Orleans on Wednesday to make up for the game postponed from earlier this year because of the Pelicans’ leaky roof. Then back to the crib on Friday to play the Clippers. Now you can stop me when I start lyin’!

Playas Thesaurus:

1) Dun: noun – the person in question, dude, guy, etc. It’s whoever I’m talkin’ about and its non-gender specific.

2) Ole boy: noun – the person that I’m currently talkin’ about.

The G is excluded from the endings of all words because the G is near and dear to my heart because I’m from “The G” which is Gary, Indiana. So I only use the G when I’m talkin’ about “The G!”
