BROOKLYN — After riding a 7 game winning streak the Pacers seemed to implode this week losing two straight. On Tuesday night they let the dull Cleveland Cavaliers come over to Big Momma’s house and get a tip in at the buzzer to beat them. Victor Oladipo missed two critical free throws down the stretch of that ball game. Then the following night they ran up to Toronto and had them on the ropes bleeding from the mouth down 17 points and blew it.
Again, Oladipo got sloppy down the stretch turning the rock over twice in the final minute as they squandered that one away. Well playas…they showed up in Brooklyn with a brand new attitude and the All-Star Victor Oladipo that everyone has been looking for got off of the bus as they ended the Nets 7-game winning streak with a 114-106 win.
Vic led all scorers with 26 points as he dropped off another 9 rebounds and 6 assists. He even blessed the Brooklyn crowd with a left hand yoke!!! That’s hood for old school power dunk for y’all that didn’t grow up in ANY HOOD, USA. Ole boy scored 14 of his 26 in the fourth quarter.
Yes, the Pacers needed that win because to lose three in a row starts to play with a boy’s mind after they’ve won 7 straight.
Thad Young came through with 21 as both Bojan Bogdanovic and Domantas Sabonis each dropped off 17. Myles Turner’s earning that new contract extension with a solid double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
As a team they shot 54 percent from the field and 42 percent from behind the arc. Nate McMillan’s goal every night is to have at least 25 assists. Well, they finished with 24 which was good enough for them to walk out of the joint with a “W.”
Even tough the Nets destroyed Indiana on the glass 41-29 and had 7 players finish in double figures the Pacers played well enough down the stretch to win the game. That’s something that they haven’t done the previous two games. Up next the Wizards on Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
